| Trazodone?
Has anyone here been put on the drug Trazodone for sleep? My pcp put me on Trazodone last week and I have been taking 100 mg. The problem is when i wake up i am groggy all day and weak, also having heart palps. Has anyone had this reaction to Trazodone?

My ex bf decided to take it, and ended up being one of those drugs they say is non addictive, but it is. I am sure someone will come along and have more to help you with. Just be careful of your use.......I hope you are doing better.

I have been given trazadone for sleep. If you want a good review of the side effects visit www.medplus.com. It is the US dept of health's website. I personally haven't had those symptoms. Hope this helps.

I had a very bad reaction to Trazadone just a couple of months ago. I got those tiny electric shocks throughout my body when on it and when I went off, suffered terrible insomnia for a couple of weeks. I think that, as with any drug, it reacts differently for different people. If you are not comfortable taking it, I URGE you to STOP and talk to your doctor about something else. Just b/c they say it is non-addiction, doesn't mean it is. I have seen and read way too many stories of serious problems to believe that.

I was on Trazadone for a period of time. I was given 100 mg pills, too. They really knocked me on my butt. I ended up cutting them in half and found that I wasn't AS groggy in the morning. As far as the heart palps go, I suggest that youlet your pcp know about that. Especially if you're taking other meds besides trazadone.

Paramedic, I haven't tried Trazodone but I did try Ambien and didn't like it. The rebound insomnia negated any good sleep I got. Anyway . . . I had been having palpitations, expecially since W/D. I'm taking 250 mg. of OTC magnesium / day (magnesium oxide) which has helped tremendously. Try it out and let me know if it helps you too. On the insomnia side, I just tried listening to one of the Hemisync® relaxation/meditation CDs put out by the Monroe Institute. I only listened to it one time before bed, but I had an incredibly deep sleep. I need to try it a few more times and see if there is a definite correlation. Anyway, you can buy them cheap on Amazon. No psychoactive chemicals . . . . Buzz |

I was on trazadone and had very good response to it at 50mg. Well, until lately, when the stress just went too high. I have been on it in the past too. I was one who never took it on a daily basis. I took it when needed. So, I never suffered rebound insomnia. I learned to take the dose 10 hours before I wanted to wake up. That does away with the next day groggieness. I've been on Lunesta, and don't recommend that at all. It is advertised as no problem, but, it causes addictive behavior and it also causes rebound insomnia -- when you read the small print. Also, I was yawning the next day, every time I took it. Didn't like it at all. I'm now taking seroquel - 25 mg. I'm not sure how I like it yet. I only started a few days ago. But, trazadone, I didn't have a problem with until my stress level became too high. I would take it in a minute -- 10 hours before I wanted to wake up. Shalom!

I have had severe insomnia for the last 8 yrs. I have been on Ambien and it stopped working. I guess i am going to cut the dose in half and see what happens and schedule another docs appt. Thank you all for your response.
