| Distractions?
I have a question for everyone who is going through recovery, are family and friends more of a distraction or a blessing? My abf is struggling with addiction and is currently in jail, he may be going to a long term treatment center. I made a comment to another friend about abf and I remaining friends. She said she thought I would just be a distraction for him. We have kids involved in this so will probably keep in contact, but only if it doesnt hurt his recovery. Any thoughts?

If you can be a positive suppoprting person where his recovery is concerned I do not see how you would be a "distarcation " for him.Furthermore you have kids together, seems to me the two of you are stuck with each other for a while.

| InAButtonKindOfWay. Seriously? |
Like Peter said if you can be a positive thing for him, Be there!! No one knows about my meth habit, they knew 'something' was wrong with me, but I don't know if they knew what.... But anyway,,,,,,, had they not been there, I don't think I would have made it. There are always times when we don't believe in ourselves, or we think we can't do it, etc..... Family/Friends can make a 'World' of difference. I would have given up on life if it wasn't for the friends I have.
