Tired

I feel exhausted a lot. I don't know if it is from not being able to sleep at night or something else. I keep waking up during the night and as a result, I feel tired even before I lift myself off of the bed. I am also having trouble with memory and concentration. I think this may a horrible case of mental fog. I have heard that it does lift. I hope so!

Hope,

I don't recall your DOC or how long you've been in W/D, but I think the fog will dissipate once you get your sleep schedule back to normal.

Withdrawal certainly effects sleep patterns for awhile. Mine are back to normal (I've been clean 80 days) but my dreams sure are vivid and I don't get fully rested when that happens.

Anyway, there are things to can do to get better sleep:

1. Regular exercise early in the day
2. Valerian root or melatonin before bed
3. Chamomile tea before bed
4. Reading knocks me out - might help you too.
5. Retire at regular time so body gets in habit
6. Engage in amorous activities in the evening ;-)

Aerobic exercise should work wonders in lifting the fog during the day. Are you doing any of that now?

Been to your MD lately? Make sure your body parts are functioning OK. And that you are getting optimal nutrition. Some people recommend L-Tyrosine for the fog. Can't vouch for it myself.

Good luck,

Buzz

Thanks Buzz!

I've been sober for 22 days. My DOC was cocaine and alcohol but there was a lot of other stuff that I abused too. My head feels really twisted out of shape.

I have been trying to keep on a regular exercise pattern but I always end up slacking and cutting off days of exercise in the week. I also procrastinate like crazy when it comes to that. I always say, "tomorrow, tomorrow" LOL, but it doesn't help.

I exercised for 42 minutes today and I felt somewhat better. I am going to look into trying some of that other stuff you mentioned in that list, too.

I am going to try everything at this point, LOL.

Hey Hope,

I feel like that often too. I am not sure what it is either. I'm trying the vitamin route. We can hope.

Exercise does help..

But yea, I am tired way to much, and then I never sleep at night.

It sucks. makes me miss what meth did for me. but whatever.

New ways to be awake, lol..

I'm glad to see you back around here. You were missed!

Thanks so much, Done!

Hopefully, as we heal this will all get better. But, I know how sometimes it seems like things take forever to improve.

I am going to try taking vitamins too. I read in one of your posts that Emmanuel posted a list of good ones. I need to go search and find that list.
I am trying to figure out a right combination of vitamins that would benefit me.

I think it will get better for us, Miss Done, in time.

When we finally get through this stuff, then we can look back, laugh, and say "How did we ever get through THAT???" LOL!

Easy Does it!

I can't even tell you all the things I went through in early sobriety cuz I don't have time, but remember "This to shall pass", and it will only pass if you let it. If you pick up, it MAKES nothing better only worse... So just don't pick up and the only way to go is UP. :-)

Proud of ya.... Keep working it..

Arrow List

Hey Hope,
I have it saved as a file. This is the one Emmanuel wrote, and I think Buzz agreed about most of these.

Luckily for me I already had most of them, but you can get some of them pretty cheap at Trader Joes or Targe'

Hang in there.....

a lot of good vitamins and supplements, so simply a psychological rehab wont cut it... i did it successfully without any meetings or expensive rehabs... put your money into supplements, because they get expensive. but you need to repair the neurotransmitters! you will need: Vitamin B complex - The vitamin B-complex refers to all of the known essential water-soluble vitamins except for vitamin C. These include thiamine (vitamin B1), riboflavin (vitamin B2), niacin (vitamin B3), pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), pyridoxine (vitamin B6), biotin, folic acid and the cobalamins (vitamin B12) -75 mgs.
VItamin C - helps reduce the accumulation and retention of some toxic chemicals such as lead with a history of withdraw support use - 1200 IU.
Vitamin E - reduces the risk of heart attacks with a history of withdraw support use - 600 IU.
Magnesium - an essential mineral that meth depletes - 250 mgs
CoQ10 - an antioxidant enzyme involved with the production of cellular energy - 90 mgs.
Milk Thistle - works to promote healthy liver function - 150 mgs.
5HTP - works to recover depleted serotonin - 60 mgs.
L-Lysine - promotes calcium absorption and bone, tissue and cartilage formation - 1500 mgs.
L-Tyrosine - an amino acid that helps with energy - 500 mgs.
L-Dopa (extract) - works as a precursor to dopamine - 500 mgs
L-Deprenyl - works at depression and dopamine agonist - 10 mgs.

No problemo. I also know of this site, http://www.drweilvitaminadvisor.com/

It's pretty cool. It's kind of expensive but you can
get the list of what he suggests and get them on
your own if you wanted to also.

Good Luck!
