What did You learn today?

Happy Thanksgiving.
I was wondering what some of you may have learned today about your expectations of the holiday and what actually happened. I ask this because I went to take dinner to my Mom at the nursing home for her, my Dad and myself. I was really dreading it as Mom has some mental health issues that make our relationship a strain at times.
However, I was pleasently surprised that we had a nice time, good food ( if I do say so myself) and very benign conversation. ( Translation--no arguements, no whining, no complaining!)
I discovered that I need to not expect the worst. I think my HP was showing me in this that He is still in control and cares and loves me so much that He set up a nice day where being thankful was not so hard to be!

That is wonderful news and I'm so happy you got to have that today!!! It is times like that that leave us with a contented smile plastered on our face for days afterwards!!!

My experience from today was that even though we didn't have a huge home cooked feast with family and friends gathered round {everyone pretty much did "their own thing" this year!}, it really didn't seem to matter much because we were together and thankful for each other!
Ohh, and no dirty dishes for me!! {LOL!}
