I have been thinking alot about doing my choice of drugs and it sucks! I am just over 4 months clean and out of town right know, but returning to my hometown in December and all I can think about is when I get there I will p/u. I do not like these thoughts and want to change whatI am thinking. I need to look forward to finding a job and looking forward to my future. I can't seem to get passed the thought of picking up. I have been going to meetings and think about my bright future...I do not want these thoughts but they keep coming. I thought I would share this so maybe they would go away. I am sober today and try not to think that far ahead..Thank you for my day of sobriety and will do my best to keep it going. Have a safe day evrybody. |

Julie, It is great you have 4 months and even better that you have been attending meetings. Perhaps you need to find more meetings or a therapist or both. Do you have a sponsor? If not, find one and start working with her on a relapse prevention plan. That way, you will have the tools to NOT pick when you return home. Whatever you do, don't pick up. Daw :sunani n

Being alone can be a bad thing for me when I am having those bad thoughts. I need to get out of myself and get around people--such as people at meetings, my sponsor, friends who are clean and sober, etc. Remember, this too shall pass, as long as you don't use. No one ever died from thinking about using; it is the act of using that can lead to death, degredation, jails, institutions, etc.

Good Morning, I dreamed about it last night and this is really getting to me..I hit and screamed in my dream because I could not p/u ..I hate this feeling. Just for today I am grateful that I am clean and sober and will take in every breath with thankfulness! Have another safe 24, and thanks for the feedback. |

If you have to go to a 'slippery' place, take another alky/addict with you. Would the family mind if you brought a sister or your sponser over? That would keep you accountable to the program while you are there.
