| I need some help, please
Hi! I am new here. My son was addicted to crank for a number of years. The problem he has is that he is always tired. He has been clean for 6 months and longer than that in the past but he has no energy. His Dr. prescribed Adderall for him and that helped some, but it is a stimulant and he needed to take 3 a day to really keep going all day. Of course, that is his addiction that makes him think he wants more, I know. But he can find no answers as to what he can take to give him the energy he needs to do anything. This has gone on for years and he use to take Sudafred or something to keep him " high" and has gone off that. He goes to meetings and really tries but he says his drug use for so long has had long term effects on his body. No doctor seems to be able to give him anything that works. He has built up such a tolerance for most meds....any suggestions. Thank you so much! Trying to live life one day at a time! * |

Try to find a Dr. who will do a hair analysis to find out what vitamins and minerals his body is deficiant in and get him on supplements... Try looking for a naturopath. The body takes time to heal after all the yucky stuff we do to it. PS... Hi and welcome... |

Hi there ... Welcome to SR... You have foind a wonderful place full of support. They do the hair analysis that KelKel is talking about in my town at a local heath food store. I have heard that is a good thing to do. they can tell alot by your hair.. I have never done it, but thought about it once. I think it was like 60-80 dollars when I checked into it. otherwise, just know that it takes a long time to heal. I am an addict, clean for 3 months. We have done such damage to ourselves, that it takes our bodies and minds a long time to heal. There seems, for me to be alot of mental health work that needs to be done too, I used for a reason. I am a bit suprised that he was put on Adderall. I think that is addicting also?? I have been on many, many meds. I take some because I have no energy, yet I take some because I have insomnia, and can't sleep, even though I have no energy.. I also take some, because my heart won't seem to slow down.. They have tried many meds on me. Some I was on for a very short time, due to side effects. All meds seem to react differently to everyone, which means it's a game of trying all meds. until you find the one that works. That is how my psyc. doctor explains it to me. I get very frustrated. Alot of money is flushed down the toilet, because of all the meds I have had that didn't work, but they gave me a whole prescription for it... Alot of money.. But it isn't as dismall as I may seem. Just keep on trying, you will find the med that works for him. If not, maybe in time, you'll find that he doesn't need any meds. I do need meds. But soem people don't... You might want to post in the Nar-anon boards, they can give you dome support as far as everyday life. Check out all of SR. There is alot to offer, in terms of support here. I'm sure you'll find it helpful.. Good luck, you sound like a wonderful mom.. Hang in there, he is already 6 months into it.. That is fabulous!!! He goes to meetings, that is wonderful to. So he is also getting support... Love to all, Becky
