Hey, I am seeking positive feedback, advice, and success stories about Methadone. My husband has been on it for 2 weeks now (first on 25mg, now on 40mg) and he is feeling good. He has tried to go " COLD TURKEY" from his 13 year addiction to Codeine. Due to the WD's, he just coldn't do it. He missed a week of work, and couldn't even get out of bed. He was taking about 60-80 Tylenol 1's a day. We figured that was about 480mg-640mg of just codeine, and 18000mg-24000mg of acetaminophen A DAY!!! Anyhow, I have heard A LOT of horror stories about methadone and I am getting very worried about him being on it. So I am looking for Success stories and positive feedback. Thanks in advance.... A VERY WORRIED WIFE |

Hi Tara, I just posted a reply on another thread about methadone and benzo's interaction being a potential killer. I'm the son of two doctors so I usually respect a lot their decisions. But I don' need to be a Doctor t see the astronomical amounts of drugs he's taking. That alone should get him to a doctor. I wouldn't know about interactions, but what if they come up with higher dosages of Methadone just like with Benzodiazepines. Please tell the doctor. It's the best way for you to stop being A VERY WORRIED WIFE. Love - Pedro P.S.: it's no a success story, sorry there, but it's the best piece of advice I can give you.

Hi tara, I've just checked some worrying side-effects on acetaminophen: it could cause severe liver dammage and 18 to 24 grams a day is way excessive. Even if he has reduced the dosage he should still be examined by a doctor. Love - Pedro

I am new here. I stopped drinking on Feb 11, 2005. I still miss it and especially now with the nicer weather coming. I am and have been addicted to tylenol 1's, 2's, and 3's on and off for several years now. Since I stopped drinking, my use of Tylenol 1's has increased tremendously. I take 8 at a time and every 3 or so hours. I figure I must take about 50 a day! I have just started to see an addictions counsellor and she is going to look into the long term effects of the drugs. I have 3 kids and I want to be around for them (unlike my own mother who battled her own demons and lost at 56). Any words of wisdom? I want to stop, but it is like I just hate the feeling of feeling nothing altering my state. I don't know how to have fun either. Please help if you can. Thanks, L.M. |
