*please help*I can't do it alone

Hello,
I just became a member today to reach out to others who have struggled with addiction, just like me, but have done what I long to do more than anything... regain their lives and overcome the unbearable existence of being a drug addict. I'm at my wits end. I HAVE to escape this addiction or I fear that my metal state will no longer allow me to continue on like this. I want so desperately to begin living again. My depression and anxiety are crippling me every time I try to break free. But when I use, the medication I take has no effect. I NEED to go to a recovery center where they can help me rehabilitate not only my body, but my mind and spirit. These government funded programs shuffle hundreds of ppl thru(if you can ever make it past the waiting list) and never address the underlying causes of one's addiction or one's mental illnesses. In fact, many centers won't even take you if you are already being prescribed meds. But so far the main problem has been my insurance, as medi-cal doesn't cover rehab programs except some outpatient. I desperately need help for I don't know how much more I can take! My despair is outweighing nearly everything else in my life at this point. This is the first time in my life that I've reached out to those I do not know, but I don't know what else to do! If you can help me in any way, even if its just an encouraging word, I could really use it right now!i truly appreciate any ones help so much! Thank you for reading.

Welcome, DeathByVespa, to SR. This is a very supportive place.
I'm sure others will ve along to chime in soon.
I am sorry for your situation. I know that private rehab is expensive, and that state programs have long waiting lists.
Have you spoken to your prescribing physician about this? Perhaps he/she has some ideas to help you.

Hi Violet,

I'm sorry to hear that you are going through this. I can say that there are many others here and elsewhere who have gone through very similar situations, and have successfully made it to the other side. Just try to keep this in mind when you are feeling down. There are many good people on this site who might be able to offer better advice. I wish I knew more about the rehab situation. I know that they are often quite expensive, or difficult to get into. I'm not sure if this is good advice, but if things are really bad, I suppose going to an ER is always an option. They might at least be able to point you in the right direction, or get you in a program.

there is hope

To please help. Know that there is hope. I too was in the same place you are, over a year ago. I was fed up, I was a broken human being and needed help putting myself back together. I called all around my hometown (south central Minnesota) to no avail. There were waiting lists and assessments, appointments. I wanted help now!! I called the local hospital, and the nurse I spoke with gave me an 800 number for Project Know. They are based in Tenn. and part of AAC. They took care of my plane ticket to a facility in Texas and I went through an awesome program while there. It was a facility called Greenhouse in Arlington and I owe them my life. Every aspect of my addiction was addressed. Mental spiritual and physical. I still have the number for the contact I had with them. If you want it I would be glad to share it with you. Let me know dear. Stay strong and know there is hope.

Hi and welcome Violet

There is a database of US treatment facilities here - if you enter your location you can then refine your results by payment type - medicare, medicaid, state assistance, county assistance, sliding scale etc

https://findtreatment.samhsa.gov/locator/home

It might take a little phoning around but I hope you can find something

Yes please! I would greatly appreciate that. Your words comfort me now that I know that someone else has seen the real struggle that exists trying to get into a program. Thank you

Yes I have spoken to my primary care physician and he gave me a 1-800 number which I called at least three times to ask them for help in finding a facility that is free or takes medi-cal and literally every lead I received sent me on one wild goose chase after another. Each place I got in touch with either didn't take medi-cal at all, had no beds, or some random reason. I thank you for responding.

If you find nothing of avail at the moment Violet and you are not in need of medical/physical assistance AA or NA can be useful in at least connecting up with other people who understand. People in the meetings will also have good knowledge of what is available. Insider sort of knowledge, if you know what I mean.

I do not use either any longer but in the beginning found the support and understanding from these meetings and the people who comprised them very helpful and very comforting. Also keep posting here for online support.

I hope you do find something soon violet. And SR is here for you.

Are you using at the moment?

Hi Vespa! Tarzana Treatment Centers used to accept Medi-Cal but they no longer do, how ever if you call them they will give you the numbers of two facilities that accept Medi-Cal

Guys please don't post phone numbers or contact details in the thread - it's against our rules and I'll just have to remove them anyway.

Please don't link to facilities either.

Even naming facilities is stretching another rule but I understand people are sharing their experience so I'll allow it to a point.

If you have contact deets, links or anything like that, private messages (PMs) are probably better for that.

Thanks
