Okay, this guy reminds me of a cross between Axel Rose, Kid Rock, and the Kentucky Headhunters. I wonder if he wrote this song. Anyways...he is one bad boy. Dig the headband. This songs got a bit of a Celtic flavor....straight from Scotland/Ireland.

So, my grandaddy back in them hills was a sheriff during Prohibition, but *go figure* he taught my daddy how to make moonshine. (which my daddy did...and proceeded to drink it all)

Hey teatreeoil. I bought a guitar since I was last talking to ya, two even. Lovely guitars. A Karina Gold acoustic, needs a new bridge though and a Juan Carlos classical. Both need new strings.

I was getting good sound out of the classical but the strings are dead. I suppose I could maybe stretch to a new pair.

Apart from that have not been listening to any music. Been falling into depression and apathy kinda.

Here's one that somebody introduced me to a few months back,

Eta: O yeah because I insisted on keeping my shades on that night while we're chatting!

Oh yeah!

Ok: Here's one for ya. "I Wear My Sunglasses At Night" - Corey Hart

(what happened to that guy? was he a one hit wonder?) It's a snappy tune. And actually, I went out dancing one night with the girls and did wear my sunglasses - just for fun, of course and in honor of these songs...) He was a little hottie, I'll say...I don't expect you to agree with me there, but hey girls just want to have fun....

Country Folks Can Survive

Ok: This is probably one of the best "official videos" I've come across. Why do I like it so much? Maybe because it reminds me of my dad and many other folks I can think of....

Hank Wms. Junior. Well, he had some other great hits too. Hey, it's just real music about real people (with attitude)

This song is really personal to me, and like Scream Of The Butterfly by Acid Bath, I wanted to share the lyrics. I hope no one minds. I am going off the acoustic version of the song that features Amy Lee from Evanescence. I absolutely love her voice. She is the quintessential rocker chick for me. Well, her and the lead singer from Flyleaf. Can't ever remember her name.
Anyway, hope you like it.....

Something takes a part of me.
Something lost and never seen.
Every time I start to believe.
Something's raped and taken from me.
From me.

Life's gotta always be messing with me.
(You wanna see the light)
Can't they chill and let me be free.
(So do I)
Can't I take away all this pain??
(You wanna see the light)
I try to every night all in vain.
In vain.

Sometimes I cannot take this place.
Sometimes it's my life I can't taste.
Sometimes I cannot feel my face.
You'll never see me fall from grace.

Something takes a part of me.
You and I were meant to be.
A cheap **** for me to lay.
Something takes a part of me.

Feeling like a freak on a leash.
(You wanna see the light)
Feeling like I have no release.
(So do I)
How many times have I felt diseased??
(You wanna see the light)
Nothing in my life is free.
Is free.

Sometimes I cannot take this place.
Sometimes it's my life I can't taste.
Sometimes I cannot feel my face.
You'll never see me fall from grace.

Something takes a part of me.
You and I were meant to be.
A cheap **** for me to lay.
Something takes....

A part of me.

Hey Tea.....
I was listening to this song the other day, and I thought you might like it. I know we have differing tastes in music, but I thought this was a bridge crosser. It's one of my all time favorite songs. It is so pretty, and the guitar work in it is great. I'm sorry I don't know how to add attachments, but the video is on You Tube.
Anyway, I hope you like it.....

Thx Sugar. I love the song. I remember when it was popular...back in 2010 or around in there? It's got a catchy tune.

Never Say Die

Dixie Chicks. Never say die can apply to just about anything, I reckon.

I love the way they belt out the chorus.

So, my taste in music is eclectic, to say the least. I like things that are different, but I think we all like to acquaint with the familiar at times; it's reassuring to us; it's comforting. And sometimes what is most familiar to us IS different. But, growing up I was exposed to quite a variety. Bluegrass has a certain image, for instance, but it is just as "dark" as any dark-(ish) rock group I can think of. Anyways, whether it's talking about where you want to be buried when you die, murdering your lover, communing with spirits, or wandering aimlessly in sorrow, generally speaking the darker the better. I think it's how folks dealt with stuff that happened in life. *ya*.

Let Him Fly

Let Him Fly lyrics

Ain't no talkin' to this man
Ain't no pretty other side
Ain't no way to understand stupid words of pride
It would take an acrobat and I already tried all that
I'm gonna let him fly

Things can move at such a pace
The second hand just waved good-bye
You know the light has left his face
But you can't recall just where or why
So there was really nothing to it
I just went and cut right through it
I said I'm gonna let him fly
Oh yea

There's no mercy in a live wire
No rest at all in freedom
Choices we are given it's
It's no choice at all
The proof is in the fire
You touch before it moves away, yeah
But you must always know
How long to stay and when to go

And there ain't no talkin' to this man
He's been tryin' to tell me so
It took a while to understand
The beauty of just letting go
'Cause it would take an acrobat
And I already tried all that

I'm gonna let him fly
I'm gonna let him fly, fly whoa
I'm gonna let him fly, fly whoa
I'm gonna let him fly

Awesome, Tea!! I love Eddie Vedder, and the Dixie Chicks. I have a pretty eclectic taste in music, too, but I think hip hop is pretty much what I love the most. I am a dancer. Not the exotic kind!! I am a hip hop dancer. Jazz, some lyrical. A little ballet. I love dancing, so I tend to pick a lot of music based on rhythm. I want to take some dance classes when I feel better. My treat to myself for getting clean!! I also love to learn choreography from music videos done by men, then put a female spin on it. Like, for instance, I would love to learn the choreo for the 'Pony" scene in Magic Mike, but with a girlie spin on it. It could be so cool if done right.
Anyways, that's my goal when I get clean. Lots of dance classes. They are def great for exercise!! If you've never been to a dance class, you should try it sometime. It is a blast!! I have to be front row though, to see, so that can be kind of embarrassing when you flub up the steps, but who cares??I was even thinking about trying ballroom!!
Ok. Sorry for my rambling ways today!!

BTW... I am trying right now to learn the choreo for Justin Timberlake's Like I Love You video. That's the type of dance I do, and love to do. Just would like to get out of bed long enough to learn it properly!! I love JT. His music, and the way he dances. He is super talented, IMHO!!

Sugar....speaking of the Dixie Chicks and Eddie Vedder....well, I think they should get together and make some music, don't you? Wouldn't that be cool? Natalie Maines' and Eddie Vedder's voices would go well together. So much passion and not afraid to show it through music. Like, spontaneous combustion!

Anyways, I feel like I'm hogging the music thread....sorry guys....

You aren't hogging the music thread, silly!! And yes, Eddie and Natalie would make a great duet. I was thinking, too, that now that Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are a couple, they should do a duet. Wouldn't that be interesting?? Could be pretty cool.
Anyway, here's my contribution to the thread today.....
