| I'm alone
I have been using/abusing for a LONG time. I have been on medication for legitimate pain but have always abused them. I've switched back and forth from oxy to duragesic patches. A few years back I was off everything but had no support and soon started using again. The way I stopped was by using these duragesic patches and lowering the strength each month until I was off. I have never cheated or abused the patches so this worked pretty well for me. A few weeks ago I went on an oxy binge and I'm lucky i'm not dead. I told my doc and it's back to the patches. I should be done in about 3 months (as long as I stay away from the oxy). I'm confident that i can do this because I really want my life back. My problem is what to do in the mean time. I am VERY ANXIOUS to go to NA but I know that's a no-no until you're clean. I need some support right now and if I can't go to NA for a few more months where do I turn??? I feel lost |

I am in the same boat as you essentially. I am still using and afraid to turn to anyone. Everyone I confess to either disowns me or treats me like scum. Well not everyone, but most. I am not clean either, so I don't know where to turn. It's why I came to this board. I have never attended a NA meeting before, or any meeting for that matter. I'm here if you want to write. mark01970_1999@yahoo.com |

hello sysfixer, i dont attend meetings anymore, but i have gone to a meeting higher than a kite. they just ask that you not share if you are under the influence. so dont let that worry you! have you looked into any therapy or outpatient programs? some of the court ordered ones you can volunteer for and they can be very helpful. ive been to one courtordered outpatient program, it was very helpful at the time. you get a lot of one on one attention, especially if you are there voluntarily. that means you really want it! let us know how you are doing sysfixer! hugs, dot
