Sheesh...why do you just keep on "Friend of Bill"? Obviously you are not here to bring harmony. Nobody here is right or wrong nor does anyone care about the verbiage people choose to use. Please. Give us all a break. It's simply annoying. Why are you trying to bring him down? Are you working the steps? This is not at all in the steps from what I've seen. (In regards of what you are harassing TOD about). Just my thoughts...

I try asking nicely for awhile if a poster is bothering me! And then I get sterner with my asking!
I was introduced to AA back in 1985. It wasn't for me though! I don't dispute it's probably helped many, but I don't need/want someone preaching it to me since I've chosen not to use it in my recovery! Many ppl, including myself, use different things to stay Sober! I used to go to NA meetings years ago and liked those way more than AA.
It's like arguing with someone over the sky being blue or white! Everyone has their own opinions! I try to respect them!

Congratulations on being clean I haven't taken a shower yet today because obviously clean means free of dirt we miss use that word a lot now being in recovery is a little different that means taking the steps it's a program of recovery just like when people say sober that simply means not drunk although I'm happy for you

I grew up in AA and Al-anon. I was in countless meetings all the way up into my teenage years. My Mom still goes to Al-anon. So I know all about it and have heard the best and worst of it all. I use the steps as a guide for me, but don't personally go. Recovering is what you make of it. It is different for everyone. For a "sponsor" to come on a website and be so stern, convicting, and down right pushy with their own beliefs is quite alarming. I only give my "thoughts" of what has worked for me. It is only advice. I am not a Dr., specialist, or anything of such a nature. I come here for support and encouragement. It is a tool that keeps me accountable. For those who search for their HP but don't believe in say a God like person/being they may use SR as a tool for that as well. I use both. To each their own and I agree do whatever works for you, keeps you accountable, makes/helps you do the recovery! Like Dee says...it's about putting new tools in your toolbox!

Do you have a way to see me thru your phone? I might be taking way more washcloth bathes than actual showers! ROFL Did plenty of those while in tents during the Army days! Ugh!
Okay! Back to the rainbow vac to get some dust cleaned up around here. OH MY! There's that clean word again!

Hi TOD. Just catching up on your thread. We are alike in our wake/sleep habits. It's so easy to sleep through the days which are so short anyway. But I know I probably do better in the winter if I get as much daylight as I can. Oh well. Like you, I'm a mushroom wondering about being a flower. On the other hand mushroom makes good compost for flowers.

Hello Everyone!
Later today - Wednesday - is my dentist appointment! Ugh! They don't use the laughing gas I'm used to using at other dentist's! So I just about crawl out of the chair when I'm in it!
It's already getting late and I have to be up earlier than usual.
I gotta get the coffee pots ready for brewing. Plus I have to get Molly's bed ready and get her off the couch out from under my grandma's fuzzy quilt! She loves that quilt! LOL My grandmother made it many many years ago. She had chickens too, so hopefully she's not rolling over in her grave!
Then it's off to the races thru the shower - no peeking TB! LOL Then off to bed I'll dive in!

Good Morning Everybody!
TB! I'm going to the VAH dental facility! Not a civilian dentist! I've not EVER gotten any dental floss or toothpaste after leaving there! LOL But now I have walked out of there with a baggie of gauze to catch the fluids flowing after getting a tooth pulled! Ugh! And of course the ice pack you break and shake! I also arrive with a valium flowing thru me to keep me from doing an about face and heading to the elevators to get the hell out of there! I've had issues with dentists ever since one slapped me when I was five years old sitting in the chair in order to get me to sit still. Jethro goes in the room with me to keep the laughter and conversation flowing while I'm being fixed up! He loves the fact I can't "tell him to shut UP" with the dentist's hand in my mouth! ARGH! I had my alarm set for 9:15 and he comes into my bedroom to wake me up. He's spouting: "It's already 9:00. You need to get up! You know it takes you hours to get ready, blah, blah blah!" Putz!
I walk out here on the porch with coffee mug in hand to Marvin crowing his azz off! I open his gate and tell him to come on! Go outside for awhile. He just stands there talking to me with his Wa Wa Wa sounds! ARGH! I reach in and pick him up to sit on the floor. He sees the bottom of my robe moving and starts dancing towards it. OH NO young man! Out you go! The feathered male population is so annoying at times! Or is it all of the males? Hmmmmmm
I got my phone charging! Everyone knows me as the Sarge with house chickens. Jethro will be using my phone to show chicken pictures and videos of them. LOL Our little feathered kids rule the house around here. Especially Maria! Daddy's little girl! I'm so glad there's only one with Molly in the living room half the time!
Maria will see Molly in the living room and starts growling at her! Yes chickens growl! Then Molly will growl back at her! Molly's growl is more of a purring though! Maria stands up on the couch where she's been stretched out and gives Molly a dirty look. I can read her thoughts: "What's SHE doing in here?" LOL
My older sister sent a text yesterday telling us the wood cutting tomorrow is OFF! Thank you LORD! We've got rain moving in tomorrow! I've been going thru stacks and albums of pictures looking for older family pictures. I'm going to make a collage with them to put on the table tomorrow! I've already got the clear plastic sheet to put over the table! It will be nice to sit at the table on Thanksgiving and see family members that aren't with us anymore or in another state!

Yes I've managed to get a year under my feet even with pain meds being around me every day! It's a testament to the fact: "No matter what's around us? If the desire to get clean is there? Then we'll make it happen!" I can only control what I'm doing to myself! I can't control anyone else! Once that is realized? Life gets a lot easier! The more days I've had clean also helped me to get better control of things around myself! The truth was always there! I just had to get my head clear in order to wakeup! I'm awake now! My life is better w/o the pain meds. Dealing with negative and positive things today is so much easier! I popped so many pain meds to avoid dealing with day to day life. So many days wasted! So many days missed!

It's always good to cry happy tears! I cry at everything now! LOL My emotions aren't soaked in pain meds anymore! Laughter just jumps out of me too when I least expect it! I'm at One year, Four months and eighteen days off those pain meds now! Woot! Woot! I also gave up all the sodas a few months ago as well as the snacks! I am on a track to get rid of the pain med TOD events! We can't change over night, but with diligence and paying attention to what we are doing? We can change!Hugs to ya dear lady!
