Thank You GracieLou and Dee!
It's truly been a long ride to reach this day! Especially living with my husband that continues taking them! It's a blessing on my part to continue abstaining from them!
I really don't miss the pain meds! And I don't give them much thought anymore! My husband's use of them and what surrounds that? Is really the only reason the pain meds even surface in my mind anymore! I've preached to the choir in reference to trying to get him to stop taking them. It only leads to him getting majorly pizzed off now. So I try to just stay focused on how much better I feel off them and let him continue suffering on them! I hope he wakes up one day and decides he's had enough of them! It sure would make our relationship together a lot happier! Sigh!

I wish you and your son the best. Opiates are a pain, but sobriety is possible.

I'm not a good one to ask as I'm coming off a recent relapse (21 days clean). For me the most important things in early recovery are avoiding triggers (games, tv shows, songs...), vigorous exercise (helps get the natural endorphins going again), and having a safe place to share what I am going through.

Congratulations! I have 4 days sober from alcohol. Similar to you, I will have to continue my recovery even though my husband still drinks. But he is compromising by not drinking during the week, and I appreciate that. And I hope he will try and moderate his use of alcohol on his days off to make my life easier, which I think he does care about, so that is good.
Congrat's on 4 days Justbreathe!
I don't miss the pain meds, nor do I have any cravings for them!
I wish you luck living with your husband still drinking while you are trying to abstain from it! It's just about drove me up the wall at times living with my husband's behavior and attitude during his continued use! I've come close to walking out many times! We are together 24/7! Neither of us work! If it wasn't for all our pets here? I probably would have! If for no other reason than to just get a breather away from him!
His Italian temper and my Irish temper get us into some stand off confrontations at times! So much more I could say, but I'll stop there!
