Hello everyone..
goodness..where to start ..we have had such fair weather this year, I am behind
and trying to catch up with my yard...garden and myself. It is so busy ..
Yesterday..the day before..and today..and some other days as well..it has been
canning time..it is so early ...the raspberries are hanging like grapes..every
second to third day it is a wonderful time of looking like you were in a huge
fight as you are covered in raspberry juices..Of course then comes the never
ending recipes and such..I think I have already talked of preserves..syrups..
muffins..and experimental things..so far all has turned into mini treasures..
It just makes me happy and tired..

So in the past few days..ok..you already know I am a little bit crazy when it
comes to hoarding lovely fresh food..Beet pickles..relish..with green tomatoes
mostly..a unique blend of sweet onions..and peppers..celery..even garden
cabbage..sit it overnight/dreaded salt of course..squuuueeeeze..and add the turmeric..Alberta
mustard ..flour..and simmer..to die for really..Our family has always called
it Jays relish..an honorable and special person for decades that shared his fun recipes to my aunty.

Oh yes..this year..experimental ..not totally as I cannot read Hungarian
yet a vegetable salad of all the fresh stuff available..preserved in jars..
sort of like a summer salad you can enjoy when snow flies..I made my own
kind of syrup or liquid to suit our family..served with dishes that need a little
tart/sweet added to the meal as a side..and just looking at the jar..gave us all sorts
of ideas to try..Like a cole slaw preserved..

Okay..butter tarts..comfort with the left over pastry..easy peasy..muffins
with so many raspberries..I thought they would never reach even a little
peak..as I added bananas and oatmeal..never waste what you have right!

I like to cook what is in my fridge..it is fun to see the variety..you may get
yellow beans prepared with a little bit of cabbage salad..a tomato..vine riped
with a crispy cucumber..or a splash of meat..if you are lucky..lol..

Monday..dil wants to tackle rhubarb pie with raspberries..so..we will see
how ambitious she is..she likes it done for her..I told her..scratch means you
pick..clean..and muck up your hand s with flour..and make the pastry..I don't
do grocery store shopping for this ..she laughed and said..a challenge has
been born.!

Just wanted you to know..I think of all here..just enjoying the moments of
summer..

Amy...I hope you are getting fat and sassy with home cooking..worry the
rest when you get home...be a sponge for now..it takes us through the tough
times.

Chic..hugs to you my dear friend..

I appreciate sr because although we came in darkness..we do find a light,
and a little bit of magic..because we/me(presumptuous here) in our despair we try to find a comfort for our soul..and most of us do..so..if it is a beginning
or an ending..at least we were given the freedom of a path to take..

Hugs to all..

lauren

(((Lauren))) sounds like Heaven to me... reminds me of the summer harvest/canning days of my youth, when my aunts and Grandma would get together on her farm and can, husk, pickle, shuck, blanch, sterilize, wipe wipe wipe hands on an apron... nothing like home preserved things! and no air conditioning during it all, just open windows in that big old house.
We kids must have driven them crazy, going in and out of that banging screen door in the kitchen.

I am happy for you for such a good summer! I would love to be there ... think you can post some photos for the album?

Have fun with your DIlove; she is getting some good lessons, and will carry on the tradition, I have a feeling. Raspberry Rhubarb pie... never had that, but it sounds delicious. please make one for the hen house???

so good to hear from you.
sending love and hugs!!! and wishes for a perfect summer day for all .

((Chic)) you are a pure heart...thank you..sure I know..we all have faults
and want to understand those that feel better in their world putting down
insecurities of others..as they see the pebble in the eyes of others..and
neglect to see the boulder in their own..
Sorry.. just reading around the internet and see patterns of blame and shame
from other sites rather than growth and letting their anger rule them. It is
a loss of integrity in my eyes when this happens.
I am a real person with many faults, accept them..deal with them..and yes
dislike them..yet with expounding..feel like the task can be handled.
My one trigger..that will make me just want to scream..is the I love you,,
"**** speak"..then if you don't bend ..one is called deaf..blind..and in so many
words "StuPid" as a member here ..whom I admire..says it..lol..she is a peach!
We worked together once as strangers..friends..she taught me alot..

take what you need and leave the rest..just be honest to yourself..
I think that is the purity..

(((Lauren)))) You have the most sense of anyone I know... perhaps I should follow suit?
So much has changed, and SR has been instrumental in some of those changes. Many of the folks here have helped, a few have hindered, but none have done permanent damage lol.
And a few have been true blessings, in helping me to grow in many ways.
I respect you too much to question your decision, but I can wish it was different. You have been an anchor for me.

Ardy, I hope you get to do the canning! Its so satisfying to see rows of colorful veggies canned, waiting for a cold winter day to enjoy them My grandma used to shuck the dried bean pods too, for dry bean soups. I wish I could find some of the varieties she had......half-runner beans were delicious and I have not found them, but probably could on the internet. beef heart tomatoes-they were huge, pinkish and delicious.

love and hugs to all on this pretty sunny day. (((Lenina))) miss you.

Thanks Damascus! Fancy horsepower in those pics!
I am a fan of classic cars, myself. I love to go to car shows. There is one called
'the pumpkin run' in ohio in the fall.

bet you had fun.

you weren't late... we were all just hanging around

So sorry I've been MIA, but I have, indeed, been soaking up every minute with family while I was there. Got back last night, went to work this morning and let's just say it's total chaos and boss is in a really bad mood.

Lauren - I understand, just hope we can check in offline as I really do care and want to know how you are doing.

Ardy - I danced enough at the wedding reception I could barely move the next day

Damascus - will check out the pics later, a bit past my bedtime.

Chic - All I can say is what my PA told me today - everything has a plan, and do what you feel is best for YOU!.

I'm tired, I've been screamed at again but all is well, and I need sleep.

Jynx - Really glad to see you back. I'll be around more often, just trying to get back into the groove of things.

Love to all!

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

(((Amy))) glad you are home, although I wish you could have had a longer vacation... I love long vacations! I could take two weeks at a time, but would hate going back after all that freedom.
All things work out to the good for those who love the HP, as they say So look for the opportunities in this change, and the good energy you soaked up from family. It will work out like it should
Bet the kitties were happy to see you!

hope everyone has a beautiful day.
love and hugs!

Thanks Chic! Yes the kitties were very happy to see me. The grumpies wanted treats. Min Gin has now gotten to where she/he wants to be petted and flops down while I pet "it" and purrs like crazy. The others, I can't get near.

What's going on with work is a bit wonky, but I still have my job and was told boss lady really likes me and I'm now sticking to "head down, mouth shut, eyes and ears open" which isn't easy, but I'm trying.

I may still not be around as much as I'd like, but stuff is going on with dad, with B and T (possibly putting the house on the market by fall or winter) and "we have to do something with the kittens so we don't end up with MORE kittens".

I want, at least the females fixed, but am not quite sure about Min-Gin though I found out her twin is a boy as he was spraying the bushes out back.

Oh, got home after a bad storm went through - tree limbs and leaves everywhere, no power. Finally got power back on, so I have my a/c

Heading to bed soon, tomorrow is Friday and my favorite doctor's last day

I'm just putting one right foot in front of the other, still revising my resume (have had lots of input) and doing the best I can do. It will work out.

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

Thanks, Chic!! Min-Gin has stolen my heart. Pretty sure he is a he, though he is smaller than the other gingers. I've been told I can get the traps, catch the cats and drop them off I the morning, pick them up later. Problem is, B wants me to get the females fixed and all but Min-Gin run like crazy from me. Kind of hard to see what sex they are if they won't let you near them!

Dad and I are having issues and it had stressed me out. I'm using all my codie recovery tools I've learned here at SR.

I'm still not quite able to be here as much as I used to, but I read and I love you all.

Hugs and prayers,

Amy
