i've really been connecting to this song...

it resonates with what i'm currently going thru in terms of recovery/sobriety, and it's a good song in its own rite...

I don't want to wait anymore I'm tired of looking for answers
Take me some place where there's music and there's laughter
I don't know if I'm scared of dying but I'm scared of living too fast, too slow
Regret, remorse, hold on, oh no I've got to go
There’s no starting over, no new beginnings, time races on
And you've just gotta keep on keeping on
Gotta keep on going, looking straight out on the road
Can't worry 'bout what's behind you or what's coming for you further up the road
I try not to hold on to what is gone, I try to do right what is wrong
I try to keep on keeping on
Yeah I just keep on keeping on

I hear a voice calling
Calling out for me
These shackles I've made in an attempt to be free
Be it for reason, be it for love
I won't take the easy road

I've woken up in a hotel room, my worries as big as the moon
Having no idea who or what or where I am
Something good comes with the bad
A song's never just sad
There's hope, there's a silver lining
Show me my silver lining
Show me my silver lining

I hear a voice calling
Calling out for me
These shackles I've made in an attempt to be free
Be it for reason, be it for love
I won't take the easy road

I won't take the easy road
The easy road, the easy road

Show me my silver lining, I try to keep on keeping on
Show me my silver lining, I try to keep on keeping on
Show me my silver lining, I try to keep on keeping on
Show me my silver lining, I try to keep on keeping on

Good song Ham, here's another little recovery track i listen to now & again, it's a bit simple but can hit the spot.

Rudimental, Not Giving In -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9-Lwpgfd1E

Well, it's time to start the show,
Lost my heart and lost my soul.
Now it's the time that you won't know,
Lost my mind and lost my goal.

Mm, not giving in.
I'm not giving in,
Not giving in,
Ooh I'm not giving in, yeah.

This time, I'm gonna be stronger I'm not giving in,
This time, I'm gonna be stronger, no, I'm not giving in.

Waste my time which makes things worse,
Lost in mine, my love is cursed.
Mm, time to make these things feel right,
Mmm, let's start this show for one last time.

Oh, I'm not giving in,
(Not giving in)
Not giving in,
(Not giving in)
Let me tell you no, not giving in,
Not this time,
(Not giving in)
Not gonna give it in.

This time, I'm gonna be stronger I'm not giving in,
This time, I'm gonna be stronger, no, I'm not giving in.

Nooo, not giving in.
Not giving in
(This time, I'm gonna be stronger I'm not giving in)
I'm gonna be stronger
(This time, I'm gonna be stronger I'm not giving in)
I'm gonna be stronger

This time, I'm gonna be stronger I'm not giving in,
This time, I'm gonna be stronger I'm not giving in.
This time, I'm gonna be stronger I'm not giving in,
This time, I'm gonna be stronger I'm not giving in.
This time, I'm gonna be stronger I'm not giving in,
This time, I'm gonna be stronger I'm not giving in.
Wooh
This time, I'm gonna be stronger I'm not giving in.
This time, I'm gonna be stronger I'm not giving in.
Not giving in
Not giving in.

I love that song! I never thought about it relating to recovery. I'm glad you said something about it though, cause listening to it with that in mind was nice :]

Just gotta keep on keeping on.

I know what you mean. I found one in my library this evening thats after making my day.

It may as well have been written for me so far as my recovery is concerned!

Kings Of Tomorrow Featuring April - I Need To Love Me - YouTube

I'm starting over
Writing the next chapter of my life
I ain't getting any younger
Time to take the wrongs and make it right
I've been feeling kinda crazy lately
I need to find my way
And I'm still kinda wondering
How to be me
I need to love me

I need to love me
I'm loving me and myself

I need to love myself
I don't need one else
To make me feel complete
I need to love me

Life is the reason
Seems like the only one I need
My life is the reason
It's good enough, so good enough

I need to love myself
I don't need one else
To make me feel complete
I need to love me

Simple, effective and right up my street.

House is a feeling Peace

Nice one stratman, house music is some uplifting stuff, hard to beat a few good mates a nice local & some cranking tuuunnes to loose yourselves to

Here's another addiction related song, it's definitely not uplifting, but I like how it reminds me of the sadness and pain inherent in addiction and how i don't ever wanna go back to that sh*t.

Johnny Cash, Hurt.

House Music is a feeling and as Carl Cox said if you can't feel it it can't be House :-)

Good song that gnarly, but like listening to old joy division albums I find it a bit heavy these days :-)

Still if it helps strengthen your mental resolve then that's only a good thing!!!

"It's a spiritual thing" as the line goes. I hear that gnarly I used to live for that vibe, and used to do the odd set myself. It was the first thing to go when I became depressed, that and my day job.

That was a great cover by Jonny Cash! But I'm the same as Red, I try to stay away from the sadder side of things musically now. Saying that there are plenty of poignant house tracks also. Here's a few;

http://youtu.be/lnBQdI3sl9I (Sadness)

http://youtu.be/zVlk_8A_7x0 (Depression/Anxiety?)

http://youtu.be/MG1qnqHPQFk (Loneliness)

3 good vocal house records! I hope everyone is well, I'm good

Man no worries, looks like we are all in the same boat here to some degree. The Hollis Monroe track is a beauty isn't it? Nearly 20 years old that and still sounds fresh. Deffo one for the ages…

I was up all night last night banging them out, try these out:

http://youtu.be/SROtU62bYK4 - Bouncy number that!

Then maybe this http://youtu.be/FvUSW9qDYGQ

And three to get ready sure http://youtu.be/zSBRSJ3RNXo

Let me know how ya get on! I must start that house music thread in the user groups forum instead of us hijacking everywhere, I'l get it done at the weekend.

It will give me some motivation to go digging again, I actually acquired a few the other night, mad tunes very good Be well bro
