| Definitely at the bottom looking up.
I've decided to include some of my story because I am new to the chat and participated in my first meeting and it was "tremendous" and very positive. I have been doing coke/crack for many years off and on as well as alcohol. Normally the alcohol leads to the other substances and basically bad goes to worse!!! My illness has caused me to lose many material and personal things out of basically being stupid for the most part and not caring about the people that I was hurting the most. Well, reality has set in and now I am looking to rebuild totally due to the losses I have taken within the past 2 months. My biggest concern is being a "great" father to my unborn son who is due by the 1st week of July. Throughout all of my turmoil and bad decisions based on alcohol and drug abuse I have maintained by professional career. I am now trying to put as much emphasis on my personal life as I do with my job. Cocaine/crack is actually something that scares me now because I like many others THOUGHT that I could fight it by my self and now realize that I can't. I want as much help as possible because not controlling this problem will one day become my demise. I respect any and EVERYONE that has and still is dealing with this problem and doing the best that they can to overcome it.

| Hi D We met earlier tonight. Welcome aboard!... I am an alkie. I have tried just about everything to stay sober! Right now my doctor, vitamins and minerals, zoloft and AA and SR are what is keeping me sober. I could not do it on my own, I thought soooo many times I could, but I proved myself wrong again and again. The people here are great and keep on posting! |

Hey man welcome to SR, Glad you made a meeting and Want to find a new way to live. I started recovery in 87, I was introduced in 85 to NA, I went back time and time again even after sometime in recovery, I held on to reservations and went back to my way. Ralapse is not a requirement but does happen. If you are going to NA or AA, you are a member when you say you are, and the only requirement is the disire to stop using. This program has been written so simply that we can follow it in our daily lives. The 12 step will guide you through your recovery as it has for millions of us. I suggest if you don't have a Basic Text, that you get one. It is like going to war without a weapon if you don't have one. Dude, just for today, you never have to use again, keep posting and let us know how you're doing.

Hey D, I'm an addict called Laurie. I couldn't even begin to tell you the miracles that have happened in my life since I chose to get clean. It requires some work, no one said it would be easy, but it is more than worth it. Keep posting, and doing what you need to do. SR is a great place. Love ya Laurie D
