You're on day 2.... It's like that. If quitting was easy, none of us would be here.
How about I give you a few reasons to look forward to?
The experience of real joy.
Not having to rely on pills to feel good.
Not having to wake up early morning feeling like you're going through W/D
Going to the bathroom like a normal person
Experiencing real emotions up or down
not having your entire life planned around a pill
Enjoying intimacy and the wonderful feelings that come with it.
Walking out of your home and feeling the sun shine on your face knowing that your whole day is ahead of you.

Newly found sobriety is so very hard at first. In time, when your brain begins to heal, you will will begin feeling glimpses of hope and happiness. You will have bad days at first. THen OK days, then bad days, but after time, you will have better days.
RIght now, time is standing still for you. I know this feeling well! Give yourself some time and most importantly, give yourself some time to heal.
Addiction to pain pills will suck your soul into a very dark place. It is slavery by it's very definition. Setting yourself free is the hardest thing you will ever do. Always remember too that freedom comes at a cost but freedom is the greatest reward in our life. Nothing worth having is easy to come by so remember that you are battling for your life AND your freedom.

Boring is a sure sign you're clean!

Although it's dull sometimes you learn to go without police, probation officers, your family crying, losing jobs, losing friends, being sick all the time, having guns pulled on you, paranoia, the cold sweats, the shakes, the dry heaves, shitting your pants, wetting the bed, car crashes, judges, lawyers, blackouts, hangovers....

Hard to immagine how I make do without all the "fun" I used to have.

wow...Ivankatz says it best once again... Yes, we all feel super bored when we do not have that fake high anymore, but look at the positives. Not having to beg myself to use the bathroom, not blowing 800 a week on meds..oh the list is so long...

THe way I see it, taking meds long term is like happily sliding down a lovely field of flowers until you reach the bottom and realize your in a pit of raw sewage. Getting out of it requires a hell of a lot work and it seems like forever to get the stink out of you.

That's exactly right! After some time, your brain begins to heal. As it heals, you begin to experience real emotions again. If you eat a healthy diet and get some exercise, your brain heals even faster!
