| Light at the end of my tunnel
I am on day day 23 of being clean off of pretty heavy use of Oxycodone IR. I was up to 300 mg's per day, but still managed to hold down a good job. A fully-functioning closet addict. I decided to take a little time off work and get off of it... it was just consuming too much of my life. Up until yesterday I've been feeling pretty sick, and just generally down. I've been waking up every morning with a HUGE amount of anxiety and could tell I had it during sleep because I'd dream that I would take pills for it... Well, this morning was a new day!! I woke up to NO anxiety! Today, my anxiety level is LOW and I am no longer as depressed or scared to face life drug-free!!!!!!! I finally feel free. There are times over these past 23 days that I wanted to go back just for some relief, and now I am so glad I stuck through this... I finally see the light at the end of this dark tunnel that I've been in for over three years. I tried to get clean 3 times.... I am confident this is my last. I just wanted to share my story, even if it just helps one person. |

Missy, I'm so glad you did so good today. I will give you a stern warning though. Recevery is NOT linear! You will experience good days and you will feel as if you are regressing on others. This may happen for some time with you so just be aware that it's not all roses from here on out. I'm not trying to scare you, only prepare you for the reality of recovery. THing is, always remember that not every day is perfect.

OK, let e expand a little more- every day is NOT perfect but you are on the right path. So much of recovery depends on Age, physical condition, diet, exercise, etc. THe point is, the better your diet, sleep, and exercise, the faster you'll recover. Also, think back to the time you never used. You still had bad days right? Well, there you go. Sobriety is all about how you deal with what life sends your way. Good or bad. It's how we deal with those problems that determine our success.
