Oxycodone withdrawls..

I have been on oxys for 4 years around 270-360Mg/day only. As of past year I have been getting especially bad. taking up2 12 a day. I realize and have realized it is slowly ruining my life. I will no goto support group or anything, I just gonna have to sweat it out and conquer myself. I have been in PM for over 5 years with several herinated discs and shoulder problems. So this is why I have been taking the drug. I guess I'm looking for insight. Before when I had to switch doctors I went thru withdrawls for 9 days of complete hell (cold turkey) past 2 years. Few months ago I also withdrew slightly cause I was able to slowly taper myself down til I was out and it wasnt so bad. As of now I'm completly out and id like to taper self down but that is not really an option now.

I suppose my biggest issue more then anything is not sleeping I get very wicked insomnia and also really bad RLS. my legs feel like complete jello moving is a pain in the ass. it truely sucks. I was reading earlier that Vitamin B something helps a little with RLS, I guess I'm looking for any tips or anything. I dont usually take zanny or valiums and will not mix them but will probably take either or tonight to sleep. I also got prescribed from one doctor who I left months ago chlonidine 0.2MG per 8 hours. They seem to help slightly during day but dont do the exact trick. At time I get such bad anxeity such as tingling in my shoulders and uppder body which can get crazy thats what I been using the chlonidine for. They are ok. I have also been drinking detox tea.

I was woundering if there is any better tips or insight to help get thru this hell. I'm woundering what I can take or anyhting that will help. I'm looking for anyhting over the counter, vitamins, drinks, etc. ?

This has been an ongoing battle for years and I'm just sick of it. Its getting so old and running out of my script early then spending money I dont have to buy more. its just not a good thing. I basically wanna kick the habit and take on an as needed basis. somedays take one and no more depeninding on my pain, some days take none.

I found this forum googling oxy withdrawl and seems to have some useful info. Just curious on anyones insight or if anyone is currently experiencing all this hell or whatnot...

I havent had any since around 4pm saturday 1.30...

Thanks for everyones help...

hope all is well...

Jason, welcome and I know how you feel, there's nothing worse than trying to go through a opiate withdrawl alone.I wish I could offer more than support like drug combos but not allowed here,ok so with the rls hot baths work and the cramps anything over the counter, sleep will be fletting at best.
After your done detoxing you will find the pain that you were taking opiates for will not be that bad but you still need to work a program to change your thinking this is the hardest part.Stay with it and give it time, hard to think about anything at this point I know.

Welcome JB

Like Zak says, we can't give out medical advice here. My advice is always to see a medical professional.

You will find others here with experience tho.

I suggest drinking lots of fluids to flush poisons out. I was able to get some sleep on Ambien. 4-5 hours is 4-5 hours when you are going through CT, I kept moving and going to meeting after meeting. The support by everyone there was the bomb! They stayed by my side took me for coffee and talked to me for hours. Complete strangers nonetheless. I also went to a sauna everyday to try to get chemicals out faster. That did make a huge difference. I would sit in and drink every ten minutes trying to flush out the demons. Just be sure to stay hydrated I went twice a day a few times. That helped my RLS and temp adjustment issues. The only food I could eat was ice cream, pudding and skittles, Seriously. I did vitamins but the drinkable kind. I wish you luck and I hope I have helped, Go to meetings - trust me they work and you make connections. Also I hAVE HEARD THAT THE DETOX TEA IS EXCELLENT!:c03http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/images/smilies/c031.gif1:http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...ilies/c031.gif

Hi Jason and welcome.

I would advise again flushing the body out with lots of fluids/saunas. This in itself can be very dangerous when it causes an electrolyte imbalance in the body. In some circumstances this can result in death. And it won't get you better, any quicker.

It's important to keep hydrated but sipping water as and when you need it is all that is necessary and eat well, if you are able and rest and allow the body to heal.

Your body will get rid of the drugs in its own time. The important thing you are doing is not putting any more into your system. I know you don't want to talk to your doctor, but it is good advice.

As to staying off the drugs, this is the difficult bit. Have you considered going to NA meetings?

I apologize if I gave dangerous advice. Friends at NA meetings suggested the sauna when I was detoxing. I had no idea it was that bad?!?! I only did it for 10 minutes 1x or 2x a day that first week and I did find it helpful, but that could be psychological. The water definitely helped. I wish you luck Bateman. I can say one thing - I was never able to eat those first few days. I was lucky to hold down fluids. Thinking of you.

Jason

I'm not in the same situation as you but i am going through w/d from oxy's have you tried doing any light stretching to help with the pain and discomfort I took oxy's for arthritic joints and stretching helps me im sure you could find specific ones for your pain.

can you take advil or tylonel to aid with your pain relief

hot bath is great too, though on some youtube sit in the bath and laugh!

Every single day it will get better

jason.. ur story sounds like my husband exactly.. I had to read deap into what you were saying to make sure you weren't him! He is prescribed 6 30mg daily. But we always run out. Granted I take them too, but I take my own rashion... In december I counted he was taking an average of 12 a day. Since then I took over distributing them to him, so that he doesn't OD... I'm so scared that he will. You're story intriges me, because it would help me learn about what he's going thru. I think he may have snuck some here or there, becase even with me giving them to him daily, we still ran out, and I counted exactly!! I had him taking only 3 a day these last two days but it didn't keep the withdrawls away, he got very sick. last night I got him some to keep him from being sick.. and he took his two for that day, and 2pm-10pm. Everytime he goes thru withdrawls, even after he gets pills again, he stays sick.. it usually sets off a cold, which sticks around for a week or so. Anyway, the point of my ramble... is he has true pain... like you for many years. He's had two surgerys on his neck and has been diagnosed with degenerative disk disease. he will always have pain. But our marriage is not so good, I understand him needing the meds, but I want him to get it under control. To wear he's not passing out naked in the living room.... (or other odd places) We have kids! We've lost everything.. and to boot we live with my parents... I've managed to keep them from seeing anything they shouldn't but I don't want to live like this forever. I want him to get his pain managed so that we can still have a decent life... we're only in our 30's!!! He knows he has a problem and he does want to kick it, but he doesn't want to be in pain. Maybe you guys could help each other. Are you married? Have kids? just wondering if there are other similarities. He doesn't think I understand his pain... he thinks I think he just wants to get high, but that's not true! I know he has pain, but so what does that mean for me?? Am I supposed to live like this for the rest of my life?? cleaning up after his mess, always worried me or the kids will find him OD'd in the bathroom. I dunno if any of this made sense, cause I'm typing fast, and I need to go so can't profread, but maybe we can help each other... please contact me if ur interested, I'm new to this site. Oh he takes the oxy's and Soma's and valiuum.. usually takes the somas coupled with oxy's for pain, and then valiuum to sleep.

Hi again Luxless

Your husband needs to seek professional medical advice.

It is possible to live with pain management and not be addicted...but you have to go seek that professional medical help first.
