9 months clean - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information

In a few hrs, I will have 9 months clean.

I did this by praying, by going to meetings (NA) , by not putting up with other people's nonsense.

I force myself to "sleep on it" when I am tempted to use.

I try to go to atleast one meeting a week and hang only with people who don't use.

I try to pay close attention to things that trip me up, like

holidays
when things are going too good
when thing are bad
too much stress
too much confidence
when I make start making excuses, and so on.

anyhow, this is how I made it to 9 months

I just want you to know, I've been having a rough couple of nights, and you just made all the bad stuff go away, my friend.

I was just thinking how nice it would be to get numb, but not really wanting to go there, and you've reminded me why I DON'T want to there. I remember all your struggles, all MY struggles, and I wish you could feel how much my heart is swollen with pride for you.

Thanks for that. Those are things that mess me up too. But I never relize it until its too late. Thanks for the reminder.

Joe's case shows that if you keep trying you'll get there. The boy worked like a dog to get where he is today.
