opiate detox - need advice

I am on my 6th day of sobriety from vicoden and oxycontin. I am through the worst part. I have been able to sleep the last 2 nights without any valium or sleeping pills. That feels nice.
The worst part is that my first day back to work was today and I really really wanted to take a pill. It's hardest for me at work because I have access to them and I have been soooo tired and lathargic that it makes my day go by 10 times slower and I don't feel like acomplishing anything. I work in an office and it would almost be easier to work outside and do labor to get my mind off of it.

Can someone give me some insight as to how long I will feel tired and lathargic in your experience? Since I have not gone a day without pills in almost 2 years, I don't remember how it feels to have energy without medication. Will I feel normal any time soon?

This board has really helped me gain more strength today. I know I can make it through tomorrow. I am going to try some vitamins in the morning.

Hi and welcome

Everyone is different,so it's hard to say how long you will feel like this.Trust that you are on the right path and all will be well.Take good care of yourself...plenty of rest, plenty of fluids and good food.Schedule a checkup with your doctor, and be very honest.

Have you considered going to NA?
The support and understanding would make a big difference for you.Be sure to do some reading on our NA forum, and post wherever you like.Keep coming back, and congrats on your six days!

Thanks for the support. I do feel I am on the right path. I have mixed feelings about NA meetings. I've heard from people who have been that all the talk about drugs makes you want to do them more. So I think for now I will stick to this forum. I seems to be helping a great deal.
