Ex-Adderall abuser

Earlier this year I was abusing Adderall BIGTIME. I wouldn't take it daily, I was using a friend's prescription and was even abusing the 30mg XR release. I started out taking one or two on weekend nights every few weeks, then it increased as a bi-monthly cycle. A few times I even took 5-6 30mg XR in one night.

I came across an older post about adderall abuse on this forum..

and what interested me was what the user "Christian" said about taking L-tyrosine and DL-phenylalanine.

"hmm, that stuff can caus significant changes in your brain. wow, 120mg! i though 3x30mg was MAX dosage per day, how were you able to get this much from your doctor?

probably i reccomend L-Tyrosine, and DL-Phenylalanine, also cardio exercise, maybe also Idebenone.

ya, that stuff is basically 4 different types of amphetamines, although in controlled dosages ... why did you stop taking it? did you consider tapering off?
"

Does adderall drain these things from your brain? I just wanted to know if taking these pills would help my ol' brain return to complete normalcy...

I have almost returned to normal since my ridiculous adderall abuse, but I still feel a little bit off, just wanted to know if taking those would help.

This is an inquiry that is really best discussed with your doctor. He prescribed you the original medication. I am certain he will help you with those questions if you are honest with him about your drug use.

Well I detest my doctor, or I would.
I was hoping someone on this forum had knowledge of the two substances, oh well.

It's vitamins..it can't hurt to try them.

As well versed as we all know that all doctors are on the fine particulars of pharmacotherapy I would suggest you ask a pharmacist if you want scientific facts and not opinions. I'd tell you something but I don't know enough about the neurodynamics of amphetamine abuse and recovery to feel like I'm giving you an informed opinion.

I can however comfortably tell you that it is not at all like taking "four different amphetamines in controlled doses" at all. The hysteria people will raise about absolutely anything these days just so they have something to do amazes me.

I have experience with stimulants.

Not all of the forms of amphetamines in Adderall are active... they just change how the body metabolizes the active forms (isomers) so it lasts longer....

As far as returning to normal... My opinion is that to return to normal you just stop taking them.... yea there is tyrosine, caffeine, ephedrine, yohimbine, vitamins.... but you are just trying to replace the effect of the stimulant by taking them.... not get back to normal.

My 2 cents.

I'm not trying to replace the effect at all, I was just thinking that it helped to replace something that was drained from my brain while I was on it..lol.

Hey, I've been there... trying to feel normal after stopping long term stimulant use... so if I sounded judgemental, I didn't mean to... I certainly tried a few things to make the transition easier...

I should have just said that I felt like I was just trying to replace the effect and not conclude that YOU were doing that...
