When I started taking Suboxone, I was just getting off Heroin just like you. I couldn't wait for withdrawls to take the Suboxone either, but I did and it has been the best thing that has happened to me. But what I have realized from talking to other people is that in order for Suboxone to work, you really have to want to get and stay clean. You have to have hit your bottom... have you hit your bottom yet or do you want to keep digging? Either way Welcome and I hope that you do decide to quit!!! |

Hi, I'm Penny and I'm a recovering opiate/cocaine addict, 11 months clean. Before entering rehab, I was swallowing thirty, 10mg pill of hydro,or oxycodones each day just to keep from being dope sick, plus, I was snorting/smoking 150-300 dollars of coke. Rehab saved my life. I'd never heard of Suboxone until I got there, but it took my insurance about 8 days to approve Sub treatment, so I didn't start it until I was 8 days into detox. My withdrawls were hell, with little to no help from the mimimal amount of methodone they gave me, and they only gave it to me for 3 days. I was so frustrated and craving a pill so damn bad on the 7th day that I just about walked away...thank God I didn't. So on the 8th day, they finally started me on Sub. I had my doubts about this drug, thinking, how the hell is this little pill under my tongue gonna help me? Well, it was nothing short of a miracle. I almost immediately lost the cravings for those damn pills that I had truly been obsessed with for over ten years. I'm still on 8mg a day. My doctor doesn't want me to come off right now and for once, I'm not gonna do things MY way, I'm gonna listen to the doctor. I do have to say this...If you decide to go back on the Suboxone, you absolutly have to have a recovery plan in place, maybe hit some meetings...change your people, places and things. Recovery is a lifestyle and you have to really want to be clean. Because if not, the suboxone just becomes another pill and it won't help. Good luck to you in your fight to recover, Penny

thanks for the replys everyone please keep em coming. it really helps to hear what other people have gone through and what has helped. like i said ive quit before i was off subs for like 7-10 days . i still had bad back pain and low energy and was sweating alot. the one thing that really helps me is driving. at that time i was in socal in a house on 4 acres and had a drift course set up on the property (a dream come true for me) the natural high i got from that helped alot and im in the process of builing a race car so i have somethin to drive here in atl when it comes to to kick the opites to the curb.. its when im just sitting around with nohting to do that i end up relapseing becasue its something to make u feel good when ur doing nothing.i also relapse somtimes cause of back pain from my 6 50mph+ motorcycle crashes.... but rght now i need to concentrate on geting off this F-ing dope and get back one subs and get my life back in control and on track. if it wasnt for this site i wouldnt have quit the first time and i wouldnt be trying to quit this time .hearing all the stories of felow adicts getting clean really motivates me to stop this crazy life style. so please keep the suport and advice coming cuase im on my last bag of dope and am going tto subs in the morning. ( i find it easier to take you last dose at night and sleep then when you wake up you only hav to wait a few hours to take the subs. ......thanks for lisenting to my long random posts
