| Help with Oxycodone...I'm from Singapore
Hey everyone, I'm from Singapore. Was involved in a nasty car accident and have since undergone 4 major and 2 minor surgeries. I was moving up the ladder of painkillers. I'm now currently on 1) Codeine 60mg (3X daily) 2) Oxycodone IR (35mg morning, 35mg afternoon, 70mg evening) 3) Oxycodone SR (20 mg morning, 20 mg night) 4) Morphine Sulphate SR (60mg morning, 60mg night) 5) Tramadol 100mg (3X daily) I tried taking off the Oxycodone as I had felt it becoming quite hard to live without. Was hit hard by the withdrawals as soon as 4-6 hours after the last supposed dose. My mind is willing but my flesh is weak. I would like to know if I continue with my Morphine, am I able to skip the Oxycodone? Heard somewhere that they can be converted to each other (equivalent mg for mg). Just to add on, the moment I stop, I get hit hard with cold shivers, diarrhoea, nausea, insomia and having no appetite. Is this common for withdrawal? What can be done about it? I really feel like reaching back to the pill everytime this comes on. I can't seem to stop the Oxycodone. I really don't know what to do. Any comments out there? Greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

Holy mother of somebody. That is a huge amount of narcotics your taking there. We cant give out medical advise. I suggest you talk to your doctor/s as soon as possible. Ivan

Wow you are taking a tremendous amount of medication. Is this all being prescribed by one doctor? Really that is a lot on your body and could be really difficult to come off of if not done correctly. We are not qualified to give medical advice, but I would talk to my doctor about this fast. Do you still NEED the meds? If the pain is getting better I would highly recommend seeing what you can taper off of. In your case, it makes sense to go slow to minimize withdrawal. How long have you been on these meds? The longer you are on, the harder to get off and stay off. Everything you describe sounds like text book opiate withdrawal and detox. It is no joke and no fun, but it doesnt last forever. It does get better. If you can get through the first few days, the worst of the physical will be over. If you and your doctor decide to detox you then posting here will help because there are OTC drugs and "tricks" to help the process go easier. If it were ME I would get off as much of that as possible. Please keep posting, there is lots of great advice here. |

Welcome I know from personal experience the withdraws from opiate addiction was a mess. All the symptoms you listed from your opioid withdraw were like mine. Although my use was not because of pain management so I don't know about that. I only know I had to quit using...not sure if that is something you can do without being in constant pain. But it sounds like your looking for a better way to live than the way its going for you now. Maybe sticking around here at SR can help.

Wow. That's a pretty impressive dope regimen you've got going on there. You must have a very 'cool' doctor, that's about all I can say about that. Back when I was in the worst part of my addiction, after YEARS of opioid abuse ... I could take as much and more dope than you're talking about above without batting an eye ... BUT ... on the streets, that was a $100+/day habit. And that's where I was gettin' 'em. Some food for thought there ... you are in pretty deep here my friend ... But I digress ... what exactly is 'the problem' you're having here, that you're wanting to talk to us about? Seems you get a ton of dope legally prescribed to you. And you are apparently in still in real pain from this accident ... and the surgeries. But beyond that, are you: 1) Serious about wanting to quit this stuff, or 2) Are you just coming on here to SOBER RECOVERY.com cause you're out of oxy's but have a bunch of morphine laying around, and want to know if we think you can substitute the morphine ...and if you were to do so, how much do you need? If its the former, then we can help you out. If it's the latter ... try Erowid.com or something like that, where they love to talk about questions like the one you're asking. And by the way, I know the exact answer to the second question ... but I ain't telling you anyways, just on sheer principle (and cause I don't want the mods to yell at me)

Dude, I know tolerance develops rapidly but jesus h.! It must have taken you two days to post that because you had to be on the nod for a long fing time. I would look into maybe seeing another doc. Yours must be a scripter (or a dream come true for us addicts) or a lunatic. I know all about the conversion (too many nights on Addy) and I won't tell you. I bet your f**king doc will tell you and probably get you some Fentanyl while you're there. Other than that, o opioid one I won't comment. God damn that's a lot of dope!

Hey man... that is some intense business your involved in. I Live in Singapore now and am in recovery. I must tell you first of all that to detox you MUST consult a health care professional. There are NA meetings here. I don't go to them personally, I choose to go to AA because its waaay harder for me not to drink than not to use drugs--especially in a drug Nazi city like ours. PM me if you want.
