Pray for my daughter! - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information

As some of you know my daughter is disabled and she is in a wheelchair.
Well I put some ski like things on her wheels and took her outside with the wife and she was having a blast!
We live in a coldesac so there is really no traffic. She went flying into the street and a car came out of no where doing at least 40 (it is a 15 mph zone with a disabled child sign up) and knocked her out of her seat.

Why did I do this? How fricking stupid do I have to be. Yes she was having fun but I am the adult aint I? And that ******* car!!!! Why so fast??? She was knocked out and has three broken ribs a broke leg (whole leg) She is 5 and only weighs only 31 lbs...

I am at home taking care of my other kids, wife is at the hospital with Rebekah. I will go this morning and let her come home for some sleep... Just got back and the first thing I could think of was to come on here to ask for prayers!!

Please guys pray for her. She is the sweetest thing I have ever known..
You guys have helped me through drug addiction and are a godsend so I know you will prayer for my daughter..

Don't beat yourself up, that car shouldn't have been going that speed. Very unfortunate accident. And let's thank God she has no head or spinal injuries. They don't heal.

Thanks gals!

She is in critical but stable condition. As her weight and size..I have been praying to god to up her condition. As I guess they found that one of her ribs poked into her lung. The doctor said very little so not a full puncture so they have to go in and reset it somehow? Just getting the word from the wife. Something about resetting it so it does not puncture the lung.
I dont know what I would do without her. yes I have other children but she is the sunshine n my life.(I know we are not supposed to have favorites but its ok if it is in secret! The way she says her words can melt even the stone of hearts..

Damn I'm a mess. but at least no feeling of using. Mind is to worried about her.
I am hoping for the best though.

I wanted to kill that guy.. But my wife held me back and thank goodness as it wold not help my kids with me in jail for assault!

Poor baby - sending prayer. those are painful injuries, Thank God she is alive.

The best gift to her is to keep sane - and clean! Well done on that.

Aw, lugnut. Of course it wasn't your fault. You wanted her to have fun. Little children, all little children deserve that. So, don't fault yourself for loving her. I too, live on a cul-de-sac. That driver was going way too fast. I place my blame directly on his shoulders.

Just keep taking the wonderful care of her when she comes home you always do. You sound like a wonderful dad.

My thoughts and prayers are with your daughter & your family. She is so beautiful and has the sweetest face! I know it has to be hard for you. Don't let the guilt get to you...It is a horrible thing to have happen, but your heart was in the right place. You were just trying to give her a taste of outdoor life and fun! Like you said, she was having a blast before the car came along.
(I hope that driver was given a citation and a big ass fine!)
You can't beat yourself up for something that was an accident. We never know what is in store for us when we walk out the door each day. Tragedy strikes when you least expect it, and there's nothing we can do. Hang in there and I will be praying for you.

They have to do surgery but are sending her to Childrens Hospital in Chicago. As they do not want to perform it because of her disability. I trust Childrens much better anyway. Kind of sucks though as I have to stay here with my kids. (not that they dont need me here but my daughter does as well.) 2 kids went to school the other 2 dont have school because of the cold. Weird town I know.

They just want the rib that is poking her lung not to puncture it..

i know you must really feel bad about this but please dont torture yourself with guilt. we can never know when bad things are going to happen no matter how hard we try to second guess ourselves.

I know how much Rebekah means to you, and I want you to stop beating yourself up with guilt, right now!!! It was an accident, and a car shouldn't have been going that fast in a darned cul-de-sac, okay? I have read your posts about Rebekah, and your other kids and you are a darned good dad, so give yourself a break!

I am sending many, many prayers for Rebekah, as well as you and Mrs. Lugnut. I'm glad she is going to the Children's hospital. I know the one, here in Atlanta, is absolutely awesome, and I'm sure the one up there, is too.

thanks all...Her surgery is schedule for 3 this afternoon (CST)
The driver was not drunk but did have a couple drinks so he got arrested for a DUI.. (found this out about 2 hours ago!! He was driving fast because a cop was down the street and he did not want him following him.. I am trying not to beat myself up but I know if could have jumped in the way at least if I though fast enough, or maybe not, it is all a blur now!
WIll keep updated..after the surgery. She is doing better now. Updated to stable!!

Lugnut. Come on. Do you REALLY think jumping in front of a car going 40 miles an hour would slow it down? You and your daughter would have been smashed and it would have been twice as tragic! Your poor wife is so lucky to have you right now. So is your daughter and your other children.

I'm glad she's doing better. She looks like a tough little girl She'll get through this. Stay strong dad. Your family needs you!
