I Woke Up Today...

... and I hate to be to optimistic, too early, but I feel like I felt 2 years ago before I ever touched an opiate. I'm 13 days clean, and in the past year, certainly, I can't ever remember making it past day 5.

In 2 days I'll be a 1/2 month clean. Just the fact that I'll be thinking in terms of "months" instead of "days" soon brings a huge smile to my face.

I woke up today...

- Firstly and foremost because I SLEPT last night (awesome)

- I felt grateful to be alive for the first time in a long, long time

- I ate a full breakfast for the first time since I can remember

- I feel energized, and ready to attack the day.. I plan on going and checking out my options at my local gym in a bit. I used to work out 4 days a week before the dope, and I'm getting me back.

- I'm motivated and can finally see, not just a glimmer, but a flood of light at the end of the tunnel

- I'm ready to take my life back from the grip of addiction.

But the thing I'm most thankful for... is simply that I WOKE UP today.

So here's to you guys at SR who helped me get even to the modest point I'm at in my recovery. From Tryin2recover and everyone else who offered unrelenting support in my initial thread here at SR, to Karma35, Endzoner, Tw33k and others in the chat room...

Just know - I woke up today - 13 days into my new life, and I feel GOOD. Amazing.

Thank You,

Bryan

Bryan...Very wonderful news and a very inspiring post for those who are still struggling!

I remember the day over 4-yrs ago when I first woke up and felt "OK" again and how the sun was a little brighter, I noticed the birds were singing, my outlook was more positive and I felt like "ME" again!!
Rejoice in the gifts that your sobriety brings!
Stay well!!
Jane

That is a nice post!! Nice to start off the day feeling good!!! (for a change)
For me, it's day#12, and I feel great also! I am on Suboxone, so am not completely off medication....but still, it's better than 20-30 oxycodone's and a bottle of wine or vodka!! It's the little things, that mean so much!
I'm off to work! Have a good day! xoxo
