Now, apparently, they are beginning in earnest.
Starting the counting on day three, I felt *really* bad for about 96 hours, but had some lingering effects like insomnia for about a month. I was on the subs a lot longer than him though, so it's hard to compare apples/apples here, but I'd say that would be a decent guess on the time frame. If he's stepping off at 4mg, after a one month taper, after the kind of oxy dose he was apparently on before ... yeah, it's likely going to be a bit rough, and he's just getting started.
He should see a doctor, maybe he can get some clonidine for the 'twitches', maybe some neurontin for the nerve pain (that combo is what my bupe doc gave me, along w/ambien to sleep). These are non-narcotic, and definitely helped me a lot.
I should add that *I* personally doubt that I'd have been able to get off of a 4mg dose of bupe without being under lock and key. I barely made it stepping off at 2mg, and I was under my mom's watchful eye the whole time I was in w/d's, with the threat of 'being out on the street' hangin over my head if I didn't make it through the w/d's on that go-round. This ain't gonna be a walk in the park for him, and he's gonna need some real support ... |
I'm going to my mother's tomorrow too. She's the only one who can care of me in this state. I'm sorry to revive an old thread. So the worst part of the withdrawals only lasted 96 hours for you? That's good to know. I'm stepping off at the same dose you did.
I have some clonidine and neurontin but not enough until I get through all of this unfortunately.
And they told me I wasn't gonna get any withdrawals from this drug. *sighs*
