Something positive

Just had something really cool happen. I was really bummed that when I worked out my budget, for the first time in my kids' life, I figured out that I wouldn't be able to take them on any vacation this summer. Always was able to swing at least a couple days away, but this year I'm making up for my addiction finance mess now. I feel guilty that I messed up, but things are now so tight, and with electric going up and the gas prices, things are hard even when you're not messing up.
Well, a month ago, I put in a small bid (the first bid) on one of the many items in the on-line charity auction for a child abuse victim fund at my work. I was sure my little bid wouldn't win, I just wanted to get the bidding going for them, even though it wasn't much, it was what I had to give. The item up for the auction was a whole weekend stay in a 4-star luxury hotel in the tourist district of a major city within a short drive of my home!!! Sounded great, but I was sure it would go for at least a couple hundred dollars. Well, for whatever reason, no one else bid and I won!!! I felt bad at first about my little donation when the auctioneer called, but he explained that the hotel had donated the stay and they were happy to have any donation, as it was 100% profit to the child abuse fund. So, now a free vacation, and it includes breakfasts. We can do sightseeing during the day, hit the acquarium for a discount ticket on Friday night, maybe the zoo on Sat. It has a pool too. I'll have to spring for dinners, but we can do something reasonable for that.
I'm delighted to be able to take them on a little get-away, and they'll love to stay at a fancy hotel. I feel as though God himself has given me a special reward!!! What a nice surprise.

That's fantastic! It seems that when I'm struggling the most, but working on my recovery and the mess I created with my addiction, that God throws something at me, every now and then, to say "you're doing good".

I hope you and the kids have a great time!

Hugs and prayers!

Amy

It's so nice to see some good news like that. It makes me feel good when people share the little blessings. The news could take a few hints from you, people need to hear/see more stuff like this.

Thanks for sharing that...

Lukcy you, can I come along? Hope you enjoy your weekend, 4 star hotel sounds great. About stars what's the highest? 5? I think Dubai has the only hotel that is one star above the highest.

I don't know Orele, I always thought 4 was the highest. Certainly, the highest I've ever stayed at. I wonder what the six star hotel in Dubai is like, I mean what could they do to get more than 100%? Maybe they scrub your back when you're in the shower and then dry you off and tuck you in bed???
Oh well, I'm terrifically excited just for the 4-star experience as I haven't been anywhere really nice in a couple of years. Yay for charity auctions!
