I know people from the downtown eastside and I've been there too many times. It is dangerous,very dangerous! People die almost everyday there. It's everything but funny.

I think I've (for the most part) accepted that it aint where we are when we use or what we use or how we injest it. It appears to me that we addicts seem to be ok with trading a life of hell for a high...an escape from life. Problem for many of us, we dont like ourselves enough to care what dope is doing to use. Is it as simple as that? ...... that dope is worth more to us (when were in active addiction) than our families, our health, our lives. I really do believe that it's as simple as that. After watching that video, I really want more than ever to help people who are in the grips of addiction.

Yes, Joe, I do think it's as simple as that. It just takes a little good recovery for us to see that! I, also, want to help other addicts. Right now, I guess, all I'm doing is what I can do here, but maybe if I get my nursing license back, I can actually work in a treatment facility?! You have come SOOOOO far in the last 3 months!! Isn't recovery GREAT? Hugs and prayers! Amy

canadians don't scare me. i went there and it was really clean. now lower ninth ward, central city, new orleans east around chef highway....that's like a nightmare. almost every day? why the heck not EVERY day? LOL just kiddin, our hoods here are mack daddy hoods. |

I was thinking Amy that maybe using is worse because of the way life is today with everything in front of us but people had bad addictions in the 1800's too. There goes that theory.

Thanks Joe... Those kind of videos are a grim reminder.... I try not to watch them to much though because sicko that I am, I am fascinated and my head starts romanticizing... Then my stomach starts rolling and then I am like, "damn! I am an addict lol" Then I usually get up out of the chair and do something kind for someone else..... I am so grateful that I am learning that I didn't even know what I didn't know......
