I am sorry for being an a$$, but isn't this is an identical post to the one which you already made? I just responded to you on the other thread, and I have a feeling that you just don't like what is being posted. Hate me for this, but you are just avoiding what other members are posting to your original post....

You do not have to apologize for anything. I know you are going through a rough time and perhaps, I should have been more sensitive to you. Please accept my apology for my tone... Please keep posting so we all know how you are doing!

When I went on suboxone the plan was to get off in two months. At first I was ahead of schedule but I found that letting go of that last tiny 2mg dose was a real pain. I still am not sure if it was all in my head (fear of letting go etc.) or if is really that rough. So I went off the book a little bit and broke my 2mg pills in half, and eventually broke the halves in half. I finally got off it but it took more like 4 months instead of two. It was rather embarrassing for me to go back to the doctor and hit him up for "just a few more pills" that last time so I vowed to not have to do that again, and I didn't. So to answer your question: go at your own rate, maybe 2 months, maybe 4 months, maybe longer. But don't think you'll be whacked out while you're on it, it's not that like that all. A cup of coffee has a stronger psychoactive effect.

No experience with suboxone or methadone here, though what I've learned from other folks who've been on it, I'd say it takes longer to get off either of those than it does to get off whatever you're abusing. Most opiate detoxes, the rough physical part, last 3-5 days. Mine was ten, but it was heavy abuse combined with other chemicals. Even ten days - when I was using, ten days went by in a blurr. The thing that concerns me, especially in what you've shared in the other thread, is that you feel it's no problem once you get through the physical part. Think about how you relapsed after four months. Was it just "there" and you did it? In the past five and a half years, I've been presented with all manner of chemicals, been offered alcoholic drinks, and had I not done something to prepare me for those eventualities, I'd be right where you are. I don't know of a pain-free way to break physical addiction, but if you do allow yourself to go through it and hold fast to the memory of how awful it was, that might keep you temporarily safe while you begin learning how to stay clean and deal with life drug-free. Peace & Love, Sugah
