Is anyone here a former (maybe current) pill snorter? I was snorting approx 20 oxys a day, and my nose hurts so so bad. I have been clean for almost a full week and a half now, but the only thing that is driving me nuts is my nose, ever breath hurts, sleeping is a nightmare becuase when i wake up its so chapped and painful. It hurts so bad, that I sometimes have to snort tylenol just to have something up there to numb the pain.... How long will this last? is there anything I can do to fix it? I have tried every nasal spray, wash, those fancy irrigation systems, and old fashion polysporin... I'm wondering if it's infected and an antibiotic will help. Thanks in advance for any advice.

| Please know that this is not any medical advice since we are not to ask or give any on here. But in my opinion, the last thing you need to do is to be snorting anything else. I never snorted oxy's but I had a great deal of experience in torturing my nose with cocaine. I would go on binges and my nose was exactly how you are describing for weeks afterwards. Have you seen a doctor? I think you should humble yourself and go to one. If you're too embarressed to go to your Family Doctor, if you have one, I would look into one of the urgent cares that are in emergency rooms at hospitals. Almost all ER's have them, they just aren't advertised. At a hospital, they cannot turn you down when you need to be seen and they will work out payments with you. Most even have help with the bills that are based on your income. I know, Ive had to use this many, many times. As in all the other areas of Recovery, it took us a long time to get where we were at our lowest/sickest point. It's not going to get better overnight. But, seriously, just go get things checked out, just in case. You could have fried a hole in the lining of your nostrils. You never know. The lining in our noses is a very delicate tissue, it wasn't made for putting chemicals in there. Good luck with this and all the other areas of your Recovery. God Bless, Judy

You're giving into a psychological association. It reminds me of guys I've talked to who say that they quit drugs and then shoot up cold water just because they love the experience of using a needle so much. Ehhh that's a medical question. Remember that withdrawals usually includes a good amount of sneezing & runny nose. Maybe just rough through it for a little while longer and see if it gets better--that is, after you stop snorting tylenol!

I come from a long snorting career. I no longer have a septum, and can't smell or taste anything, and it's been two years since I've used. I agree that you shouldn't be snorting anything. The forceful action will continue to agitate the membranes and inflame the infection (if it IS infected). 20 oxys a day is quite a bit. The withdrawls I'm sure are heavy, I'd go to a doctor, but resist the urge to get something for the pain!! ha! Keep polysporin or vaseline in the nostrils, to keep it from drying out too bad. Good luck, and hopefully you'll smell the dinner cooking in a couple of weeks. Cheers. |

I sort of laughed when I read the "snorting career", it truely does become a high maintenance day job. I am under Dr' care right now doing a medical de tox, so I showed her my nose... Totally infected and inflamed, I admited to snorting the tylenol, and she said the reason it was working for me was because it stopped the mucas flow, and also covered the inflamed area in a coating, making it hurt less. I am on an antibiotic now... What a pain in the ass this whole thing has been, my nose is harder to deal with than the actual symptoms of the withdrawal....... Thank you Cartel,Serenity, and exjunky |

Have you tried a saline solution, you can get them at any grocery store or pharmacy. It helps keep your nose moist, instead of being dry, and it is very inexpensive. I agree with the others...get to a doc and be honest with him about your addiction! take care! tangerine13 |
