| hydrocodone and xanax
heres my story in short. first time i took pills i took 2 500mgs of hydrocodone and 7 .5mgs of xanax. next major time was a whole bunch of little painkillers and 2 500mgs of hydrocodone. then 5 650mgs of hydrocodone. then my overdose a few weeks ago of 4 .25mgs of xanax and 2 10mgs of valium that night and 2 650mgs of hydrocodone 4 .5 mgs of xanax and 8 10mgs of valium that morning. I figured after overdosing it would be easy for me to quit because I almost died but i keep wanting the pills. I haven't had the shakes much but I do get headaches alot and I space out alot even when I'm doing stuff. Does anyone have any suggestions to help quit or to atleast make the headaches and spacing out go away?

did you have a seizure? I ask because benzos like valium and xanax make it very easy to have one. And for someone who doesnt use them alot 80 mg of valium is definately too much. The xanax would have synergistic (compounding) effects to this, and the hydrocodone you took is not very much. You want help to quit? Check out AA/NA in your area. |

Call the local number for AA or NA (either found in your phone book or here online) and let someone know you want to go to a meeting & don't have a ride. They'll do their best to hook you up. Peace & Love, Sugah

Just a quick side note: the 500mg or 650mg you were talking about in the Vicodin was the acetaminophen part of the pill. Vicodin is usually either 5/500 or 7.5/650. That means there is 5mg hydrocodone/500mg tylenol or 7.5mg hydrocodone/650mg tylenol. Percocet is 5/325 (5mg oxycodone/325mg tylenol). Tylenol is awful for your liver, and can cause problems with addicts. You are only supposed to take max 4,000mg tylenol in a day. That's 12 Percocet, 6 Darvocet or 8 Vicodin. My addict boyfriend's DOC was painkillers during his active addiction, and I know he was taking more than that in one sitting sometimes. When he went into detox, his liver enzymes were WAY elevated. Hopefully they will come down after awhile of not using. The liver does repair itself pretty well, but you still need to be careful. Anyways, I am just a nurse so I can't give any real medical advice on your symptoms. Headaches sound like they might be rebound headaches after taking so many painkillers. If so, they should go away after awhile of not using. I would try not to take anything at all for them. Drink lots of water. With the benzodiazepines, since you weren't a long term user and apparently haven't used for awhile, you should be OK. Long term or real high dosage use should be tapered down under the supervision of a doctor. Again, please don't take this as any kind of medical advice. Call a doctor if you have any concerns. , Vanessa

As far as going to meeting, I'll tell you what my detox facilitator told me when I was avoiding meetings. Actually, she asked me this question- "Did you find time to get drugs?" If you answered yes, then you can find time to go to a meeting.

Not being an addict or ever having taken pain pills, I don't know all the other doses. I'm sure there are tons of other formulations.Vanessa
