BV, just some new info. My doctor and I (she is aware of my, um, issues) have been talking about Rozerum (sp?) because I have had long term sleep issues. She's still mulling it over, but believes it is a possibity but wants to research it more. How awesome is she? She just doesn't write out a script because. Not even for antibiotics. As far as benzo w/ds, I was on klonopin for 10 years at a very low dose (.5 - 1 mg per night as needed for sleep) I never abused them (pinkie promise) and when I went to detox in June they cut me off cold turkey. I never had a side effect except lack of sleep which I had anyway. Having said that, I still wouldn't fool around. If you don't feel safe, get medical help. |

| Mmmmmmm.......???
Some docs - especially in the US - are pretty ill informed about benzos - for sure. Take care as to who you consult................ My experience? Yep - just like Eric Paul describes. Was on 2 mg ativan at night for 6 months - tried to quit - suffered as described................... crossed over to 20 mg valium and tapered down at 10% reductions every fortnight - it wasnt easy - but it was OK!! Manged to keep working, run my home..................... but it took a good deal of effort. Some days I felt like I was wading thro glue. But - fine now................ So - get informed - read Ashton - and chose your doctor with care! Good luck Woops |

Yeah, the US is the leader in doctors killing people. People need to educate themselves about health and health care that pertains to them. Ignorance is not bliss, although in your situation, maybe it is? I am not an american, and I certainly do not blindly trust any doctor, but, I guess, this seems to be the thing to do for some people such as yourself? Unfortunately, I learned the hard way to double check what a doctor tells me, especially after what happened to me and the damage that I now have to live with as a direct result of listening to the idiot doctor who told me nothing but bullshit. If I had the internet when I was prescribed and told crap about benzos and had looked up what this poison does, then I certainly would not be sitting here with benzodiazepine induced brain damage. Doctors Are the Third Leading Cause of Death in the US, Causing 250,000 Deaths Every Year Doctors Are The Third Leading Cause of Death in the US, Causing 250,000 Deaths Every Year And; Doctors' sloppy handwriting kills more than 7,000 people annually. It's a shocking statistic, and, according to a July 2006 report from the National Academies of Science's Institute of Medicine (IOM), preventable medication mistakes also injure more than 1.5 million Americans annually. Many such errors result from unclear abbreviations and dosage indications and illegible writing on some of the 3.2 billion prescriptions written in the U.S. every year. Woops, I stopped watching Michael Moore movies after his Detroit thing. He bores me. I wish the USA really was as bad as people say.....then so many illegal aliens would stop trying to come here. And Woops, I'm 43, old enough to understand sarcasm and even throw a little around myself(ie. leaders in pharmaceutical research..LOL). Eric, remember that giving medical advice here is not kosher. Dude. |

Forgive me Windy dear I asked your age as I was anxious about your span on this earth - given average life spans in the US. Keep well (heaven forbid that you should fall ill) Healthcare - best in the world? I think not. Try google. You are almost at the bottom of the league tables in so called civilised countries - your health care is actually appalling. From early deaths to infant mortality and everything in between. And what I hear during your election run up confirms this - as the American people seem to be finally demanding proper state run healthcare - finally waking up to the greed of the Insurers who run for profit for the shareholders. 1 in 4 Americans have no insurance for illness - so what do they do when they become ill? Here we have healthcare free at the point of need - no charges whatsoever for anything. Same in most European countries. (Canada and Cuba too) You have healthcare according to ability to pay - an idea totally abhorrant to us - and then you daren't get ill more than once.................. you become uninsurable. As for immigration - a political weapon of propaganda in the US - and therefore not valid for discussion. Graciously yours as ever...... woops |

Actually Woops I have a pretty bad cold right now and am currently booking a trip to Cuba via Mexico City as I don't want to get in trouble with the FBI upon my return. You really think the democrats are gonna take the White House? Are you on benzos again, dear? Hillary and Obama? Ain't gonna happen. The machine is way too big I'm afraid. And dear Eric, you aren't a doctor. This person needs to seek medical attention and doesn't need to be routed to an angry group of paranoid benzophobes. Anger, it's what you do best. |

My, my, my! What can I say that Won't add fuel to the flames? Woops, I love you, but all I know is I don't want my health care to be socialized. If I get cancer, I don't have to wait six months for a consult like they do in some of the other countries with socialized medicine. Just remember, this is my humble opinion, and I have seen "Sicko" For the record though, I value your views and opinions; actually you're way cool, but I'm with Windy on this one. P.S. May I just offer an anecdotal offering? We own a business. My husband offers health insurance to all his employees. Ninety percent for single people eighty percent to families. Generous coverage, and good coverage. Trust me, I use most of it. And Windy, you go!!! |

His doctor is very wrong and everyone knows it except the ignorant doctor and others like him. This is the reason people need to educate themselves about their own health, drugs, and treatments that they are getting. I am a health care professional but I am not here in that capacity, but here as a victim of benzodiazepines. I should have known better, but I did not. I fell for the party line about these drugs and now suffer the consequences of ignorance! I know what is so called medical advice and what is medical information and can discriminate between the two and know what I can legally post. All the information in the links posted is compiled from the manufacturers of benzodizepines and benzodiazepine experts. None of the links advise anyone to treat themselves or to take any drugs, supplements, herbs, or substances without a prescription and supervision from a health care provider well versed in benzodizepine illness, and all direct every person to be under the care of a qualified health care provider.

The Democrats and the White House? I dunno! The Democrats are way too right wing for us here in Europe - so dont really care who gets in. Hillary is unattractive - Obama has she sheen and gloss of Kennedy - so maybe he will capture the imagination? But - yep - even as a clueless uninformed Europhile - I know that Dubya and his "Skull n Bones" pals will get booted this time. He has such low ratings and has been the most unpopular President of all times (apart from which he is just plain cretinous). The invasion of Iraq and slaughter of Iraqis cost Blair his Prime Ministership - so Dubya wont escape the judgement of the people. But I would really like to see the people of the US exercising their democratic duties - and actually vote. The turnout is always abyssmal. "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing". And then they should take to the streets like the French - exercise their democratic power and get things changed. French politicians are afraid of the power of the people (as it should be in a democracy) whereas Americans are afraid of their politicians. Something I dont understand - why would you get into trouble with the FBI on your return form Cuba? I so envy you your trip to Cuba - I will go later in the year - best jazz festival in the world at Christmas. What an incredible country? You just have to hand it to Fidel - ultimately, the boy done good. Winston Churchill was a great fan of Cuba. Respectfully yours....... woops

The Pubelickin' candidates are SO lame as a group, and boosh has been SUCH a frigging disaster that I don't even think Diebold is gonna be able to keep the GOP in the WH this time my friend... |
