screwed and scared

I have carpal tunnel and it hurts like hell.My dumb self decided to take 12mg of my suboxone instead of my normal 8mg to help ease my suffering.I ran out early, and now the pharmacy won't release my prescription.I don't know what to do, I am really freaking out.I CANNOT go back to using, I can't! I worked too hard to get here.I feel so stupid and embarrassed.Cutting hair for 16 yrs has taken it's toll on my hands, and the pain was waking me up every nite.I hate this so much, I feel so awful.

Are you prescribed suboxone for pain management?

Or are you on an opiate-detox program and figured the subs would help manage your pain if you took an extra-large dose?

Unfortunately, the later statement.I was so sure I did not want to take anything else, and I cannot have ibuprofen cuz of stomach surgery.I figured upping my sub a bit might help.I know this was dumb, but I really didn't want to jump into taking something else.I am just really freaked about going thru withdrawal.Plus I feel weak, and like a failure.

I've heard localized cortisone injections are sometimes used to treat carpal tunnel. Perhaps you could ask your doctor if that's something that could help reduce your pain. I had an agonizing hip injury several years ago and these shots were a life saver.

I am glad it is resolved and I hope you are feeling better soon.

IMO you should take a look at the above quote and how you answered the question asked.

We can only change if we acknowledge what needs to be changed.

You made it though this time without going back to your DOC or picking up another drug. What can you do different this time so that it does not happen again. A plan of action, if you will??????

Example, was the pain in your wrist more intense this week than last week? or was it your disease telling you it was?

Just something to think about.

Hair Girl,

I honestly think you ought to check on the coritsone injections as well. I had them in both my wrists and it really helped them a lot! I hope you will consider this as it was very relieving for me for months!

blessings, Sheila

I know that my addictive mind was telling me more sub would erase the pain.I discussed this in detail with my nurse.I was ashamed that I was taking matters into my own hands, but she did say, atleast you did not go out of your program and "use", not condoning what I did, but it was the lesser of two evils so to speak.
Unfortunately, the pain is very real, waking me at nite into tears, numbness and sharp tingling pain up to my elbows.I will be seeing a ortho doc asap, and will be seeing what the plan is, I will suggest the cort. shots, I have read about them.I want to thank those who have responded to this, it means allot to know I am not alone in this.TYTYTY!

Hairgirl, I am confused on what you were scared of. Were you worried about the pain, using drugs, or were you experiencing withdrawl sysmptoms? I am worried about my withdrawl symptoms that I am about to face. been abusing OXY and Lortab.

Just for future reference, it takes about 72 hours after running out of subs before you will in full blown withdrawals ... especially if you've been on it awhile at 8mgs a day and suddenly take 12mg.

Glad it all worked out though and you didn't 'use'. When I was on subs, until I started seriously tapering (like, got to 4mg and less/day), sometimes I'd go MUCH more overboard than what you did on a given day. It happens, wouldn't feel too bad about it. It's not like it got you high, now did it?
