Question from a codie (a ladies POV would be nice) - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information

My name is Aaron and my A is my girlfriend. My AGF is in rehab currently and will be coming home in 90 days or so. I'm curious to know what I should expect from her when she returns.

What will she want from me? How will she react to being back home? Am I going to hurt her recovery by living with her?

I don't know what to expect and I want to do my best to stay out of her way and let her recover. Any help is appreciated.

When I was discharged from rehab I was feeling pretty fragile. I was excited to be home finally but also kind of nervous.
My husband was soo sweet and understanding to me during this time and didn't even blink an eye when I would do something "odd". It helped that he was such a good listener when I needed to talk and also that he "eased" me out of the house by taking us on little roadtrips and such till I began to feel more comfortable.

He also told me daily how much better I looked and how happy he was to have me back! That is something I'll never forget!

Hope that helps...I was trying to figure out what a "codie", an "A" and an "AGF" stands for{?} but I think with anyone getting out of rehab, you just need to be gentle and kind.

A = Addict

AGF = Addicted girl friend

Jane: I dont expect the same person to come back from rehab, in fact I'm hoping I get the real woman I fell in love with. That would be a huge blessing.

Thanks Saron! I always wondered what "codie" meant...Have read it so many times here but figured people would think me stoopid for asking what it meant!

I totally understand. That is the way my hubby felt too because my drug use had changed me so much from the person he had known and loved.
