Long term?

What is considered long term drug/alcohol abuse? I was addicted/abused heavily for 3 years. I think I probably did 10 years of damage in 3 years with my heavy use.

I've never been one to do anything half-way. LOL.

Three years is long term in my book.
What's happened happened. No need to dwell on that.
What are you willing to do today for your recovery?

For me, Short term means for the near future eg. next couple of months.
Long term could me until I retire.

So I guess Long term can mean a different time for everyone.
So I guess it depends on what you really are trying to decide here.

These words only mean present and future to me on any scale.

In regards to addiction, if you're using something because you are mentally and physically dependent on it, it's long term. I guess what I mean is if you use long enough to become an addict, that's long term enough for me. P.S. My use doesn't go back as far as a "typical" user, either. Five years. For me, that's long term. It's early here. I really hope, that made sense,lol.

Try not to worry so much about it, just take it one day at a time, if your that scared go to the doctor. After your 2 years if your the same then I'd be worried, but your body is still trying to put itself back together. It might be just working hard to repair itself. I was the same way as you though, I thought I was never going to be okay again, but it just takes time.

I say if you have done it more than once...it's long term.
But thats just me.
