I am a recovering opiate addict (recovering alcoholic as well). My doctor thinks I could benefit from Adderall for a variety of reasons. Am I setting myself up for another addiction? Have any of you used it sucessfully (as prescribed) after dealing with pill addiction? Thanks... |

| I am on suboxone for opiate addiction. Also a fellow alkie. While it seems that we cannot help but become addicted to things, adderall has worked wonders for my concentration and ability to FINALLY get things done! As with anything that can be abused, it is up to you and your conscience to know when and where to draw the line. If used a prescribed, it can be beneficial. If/when you take more than prescribed....well, you know the deal. Good luck! Janice |

There is variation among individual chemistries. I had an endocrinologist who put me on Ritalin for --- would you believe--- the brain fog that he thought would be a side reaction to my allergy to wheat. He also gave me vitamin B shots (a good idea). The wheat allergy is real . . . and the chronic pain that I experienced in my tendons was the reason why my primary doc gave me HC in the first place! I took less than the prescribed dosage. It was terrific for awhile . . . I seemed to have improved concentration, and sometimes more energy. But eventually I experienced a rebound reaction, where I would be out of energy and feel drained. My wife describes it as "blowing out your adrenals" from too much stimulation. I found that life was better without the AADD meds . . . Buzz |

Good grief Buzz - The only thing I've found to help with brain fog was good old fashion java. Oh and hopping on ebay and searching for good deals on 5ar4's (gz34). lol Here ya go Buzz - http://cgi.ebay.ca/Mullard-GZ34-5AR4...QQcmdZViewItem |

Emmer, There are two things that I found make a dramatic difference in my state of mental clarity (or lack threof): aerobic exercise and meditation, i.e.the type where you sit still and try to clear your mind of thought. If I do that on a regular basis I become very aware. Thanks for the tube link. Wow! A rectifier for $127 with 5 days left . . . Do YOU think it would make much of a difference in the sound? I have a pair of NIB NOS Amperex 5AR4/GZ34s, also made in Holland by Mullard, but from 1956, the year I was born. I don't think I have more than $40 in the pair. Guess I'll hang onto them. ;-) Buzz |
