I collected my 9 month tag (a yellow one) last night. It sure felt good. If someone had told me a year ago that I would have made it this far I would probably have laughed at them, but here I am. ...Right on ! |

I'm happy for you, very pleased. I remember my nine month mark felt like the first real piece of time sober. It was around christmas too. Holidays were my traditional time to get really off the hook with my drug use, so it was my first holiday period sober. It was a wholly different experience to be celebrating sober and celebrating sobriety. It was kind of tough, but I was available full time to my family and friends and some remarked how stable and available I was. That was the best gift I could give my family and my self. I love how uncomplicated my life had become, not pursuing drugs to feel normal. Life is difficult of course, like it is for everyone. But our maker provides us with the equipment we need to handle life, it's joy and tribulations. I love and live by this line - "My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations". That's from James 1:2 - Brewster (not the bible thumper, but reading it more and understanding it) |
