Thanks, frmrgolf. I am seeing members of my family today, including a brother I have not spoken to in over a year. Thankfully for all involved, I'm not drinking today, nor will there be booze at the cookout. Best, Bear

~Happy 4th of July to all!!~ Nothing special planned around here today except working on my garage sale and going into visit my parents later. The holiday on a weekday thing really threw me off this year but it is nice to have hubby off work for the day to help me! Jane

| Start a new tradition. I too miss a big family cookout, now that my children drive they tend to spend more time away from home. So, today I started a new 4th tradition...golfing with my wife...dinner out and a rented movie.

good idea golf. right now, I don't have any friends, but hopeing that since I just started going to na meetings that I will make new ones soon! Well, actually my ma called me up and asked if we wanted to go to her house and swim in her big pool. It was nice, since I don't see my ma much! She told me something that was kind of heart breaking, tho, that she is no ones hero. I was like ma, ur mine, which she is and told her that I would love to be her, she is so wise and great and much more. When ur young u look up to ur parents, when ur an adult, ur kind like a friend. I bet no one gets what I mean! Also, my ma doesn't do any drugs but now has been going thru terrible anixety and got put on klonpin 4 times a day 1 mg!!! And she is saying that doesn't work. and to make things worse, she was telling me that she wanted to smoke some weed! this is my mother, she doesn't do that stuff. ID get it? wow, I guess were more a lot than I thought???? well, anyways I had fun!

Nice to hear you were playing with the wife - and not just allowing her to caddy for you - as usual!! LOLOLOLOL And a nice new club - a big beast? Was it a present from yourself? How did it perform? Will she keep it - or throw it in the nearest burn? What does she play off? Good game for husband and wife - I think. Many a holiday spent on the golf course -and you can have 3 or 4 peaceful hours - cos you dont need to speak if you dont feel like it? One of the advantages of marriage!! LOLOL But seriously - its a great game for a married couple................ wherever you go in the world - there is always a course - and you can pass many a pleasant hour in the complany of the "locals" on the course. We were in S Africa over Christmas (Durban and Cape Town ) - met several business men from Jo'burg down there on holiday - a round of golf - and you learn all about the politics and lifestyles - faster than in any newspaper......... and a lot more fun. Then we were invited back to their holiday home for a beer - and to meet the family etc........... an international brotherhood of golfers!! They may come over here one day - and we'd be delighted to arrange for some return golf............ Will you be watching the Scottish Open - its at Loch Lomond? Will you get any coverage? Then of course - its the big one - The Open - this year its at Carnousite - lovely big "hairy" links course. I will be glued - how about yourself - will you watch any of it? I saw a bit of the Masters and the US Open - but not much - I refuse to have cable or sky tv and Rupert Murdoch owns the competitions - so we only get to see the wee bits put on terrestrial tv. No way am I going to be responsible for inflating the bank account of the mad Aussie who appears to control the world thro his media operations .......... (Mind you - it didnt really matter - since Jesus won the Masters anyway!! LOL) But - I think it is all so unfair. Tis of national interest and so should not be "owned" by one man and his company - should be available to all to watch. (Did I ever tell you about my socialistic leanings?? LOLOLOLOLOLOL Just call me: Woops the Red!) Am I playing a lot? At this time of year - we get out plenty cos of the long evenings - its light until after 11 pm and so we tend to go out after dinner - if we are teed up by 8 then we get a full 18 done. If not - we just enjoy a few holes - mind you - the midgies are pretty fierce just now! So yes - playing a few days each week just now - weather permitting! And yourself? | |
