| Looking For Myself...Sober | Xanax ?
Way back in the day...me and my friends loved xanax. We would eat them like no tomorrow. I think I was a little addicted to them. Now I have a prescription for Alprazolam which is generic xanax. And it is funny..but good. But now I have them legally. I dont want them. I take them when I get really stressed. Like with court and stuff. But other than that they can sit there and collect dust for all I care. My question is..Is it because generic is different than name brand? Or maybe I juts dont like them anymore. Dont know. Just wondered because I was a little scared when my Dr gave me the script. Because I know I use to get very violent back then. I would try to fight any and everyone at the drop of a hat. Just curious.

You are on a hot topic here and going to get alot of conflicting answers. I have been prescribed xanax for years...but get the generic. But mine has always been by scrip for severe anxiety and not a sport. My best advice is talk to your DR. I personally let some strong opinions here lead me down the wrong road.

I dont want to take them if I dont need them. The only time I have taken them was right before my relapse in May and i ate the whole dam bottle. Well we all no what happen there. Anyway now he I have only taken them a few weeks ago when I got the court papers right up to the day I went. I havent touched them since. They didnt really seem to take away the anxiety tho. I dont feel like they do anthing for my anxiety and I see no reason to take em. Maybe it is a small dose. I dont know. If I can do without them...Good. But I am worried about when I do get ready to go to court again. Then what? Taking one blue name brand back then made me feel kinda like drunk. Anymore than that I would be a mess. He has me on .5mg of generic up to 3 a day. I go see him tomorrow. I am going to have to tell him to have something different ready for when I go to court or I will fall apart. I get sick thinking about it. Cant wait till it is over! I wish I could find a way to deal with the panic feeling drug free.

| XANAX and Generic???
I thought that the Generic you are talking about is Ativan? I could be wrong but I just looked in the PDR (Physician's Desk Reference) and that is what Azalopram is...I don't think there is a generic for XANAX....I used to eat them..,.. I do take Ativan..0.5, very rarely when I get totally stressed, my Dr. knows this, he gave me the RX. PEACE, KAHLIA

If you've had a history of abuse with this why do you have a prescription? Perhaps you should toss them out and next time tell the Dr. about your history when he is prescribing. Just a thought, |

the generic is nearly identical to the brand name. companies use new manufacturing techniques to make a new product, for example Ambien and Ambien CR. the CR gives them a new patent and prevents generics from being released for a few years

I have been taking xanax for a few years now off and on and yes if you take to many they can make you violent, but if you take smaller amounts they calm you cause they are meant for anxiety. Also you can build up a tolerance for them, so if you just took one that might be why you were relaxed instead of violent. Also, yes, aprazolam and xanax are the same thing basically even though aprazolam is considered generic.
