Subutex question...

My husband is going to the dr. today to get subutex for his vicodin problem. He is planning to start it Saturday being he doesnt know how it will affect him and wants to start off on a day he doesnt have to work which makes sense yanno? Question is this...he will only be on the subutex for 6 days tops and then he wont be taking anything. That short time will not cause him w/d's when he stops will it? Im thinking the vic w/d would be gone by then pretty much and in my head Im thinking he will be ok. He is then going to be in a work furlough program in recovery groups for 3 1/2 months and when he comes home he will start back up in the rec. group at our church. We just want to make sure that after 6 days on the sub he wont have any problems. What do ya'll think?? THanks!

By His Blood- Well we went to the dr. and got the subutex. The dr, gave him the 8mg pills. I spoke to the pharmacist and he said my husband should take 1 tablet for 2 days, half for 2 days and a quarter for 2 days to avoid w/d's. He said he may have some anxiety but nothing major. Does that sound right? he also said he can take his 1st dose 6 hours after his last vicodin. Hopefully this works. Its cool cuz many dr's out here wanted $750 for sub treatment but our regular dr. that we have gone to for years gave it to him today and only charges $65 for an office visit regardless of what its for. We got lucky I would say. Ill keep ya updated.

Did you do on sub before? If so did you have w/d's?

Yeah. He will be in recovery programs at work furlough and then will be in one at our church when he comes home. AA & NA dont work for us but he really likes the program at our church so that's a good thing. He has a long way to go but he has 3 months to focus on himself and get well with others who are suffering also. God knows what He's doing and we give it all up to Him and know in the end this is happening for a reason and things WILL get better!!

Exactly!! They sure will.. I hope that he has the same attitude that you have!! How wonderful.. You will be a great cheerleader for him... Although it is great that
he will be aound others that share similar problems, this helps alot..

Please keep us informed on his progress...

Love,
Becky
