Appoximately, how much does it cost to go the sub route? I have been clean from hydros and tylenol 3's for a week but still fill blah, not hungry, weak, not interested in going to work or leaving the house. Very tired. Just wondering the cost to go and I do have Blue Cross insurance thru work. Thanks, Doxie Love |

You do not have to be so harsh! No wonder I just lurk everyday. I am new at trying to get off of opiates after being on them for 2 years and thought these were still withdrawls. Sorry, did not know. Actually lost 10 llbs in 3 weeks and weigh 75 lbs now and am 56. Their is no other physical illness with myself other than emphysemia which I am on a maintenance for that. Maybe someone else can still answer my question since I am still curious. Thanks Anyways for your reply, Doxie Love |

Yeah that IS a pretty normal reaction after stopping opiates Doxie,,they really affect our ability to feel good in many different ways.. That is what makes getting clean so freaking hard...the lethargy..not being interested in eating...not being interested in ANYTHING...hard when we don't feel good ...it jut seems to be part of the withdrawl for me..I have also considered the sub route but just never did . I would give it another couple days and see how you feel ..hey it never hurts to look into other options. I don't know about the cost and have never taken it but alot of people have adn maybe they will come around here to let you know more!! Glad you posted!! love north |

Doxie, I think you should go whatever route you are most comfortable going. Why suffer when you dont have to is my opinion. My AH is going to get off vic's and I suggested he take sub to make it easier. I dont think the w/d's would be bad if you only stay on it a short time. You can ask your dr about that yanno? Ive heard it costs about $150 for a weeks supply and Im not sure how many you take a day. I think only one but who knows. Im new to this as well. There is a lot of people on here that will tell you to go cold turkey, deal with it etc. but in my opinion if the w/d's are that miserable people are more likely to use again so why not work with a dr. to make it as comfortable as possible and work on the psychological reasons behind why we do this to ourselves. Dont let anyones post **** you off. I ignore the ignorant ones. They are all trying to help in their own way. Good Luck! |

My opinion...I too was addicted to opiates, 4 plus years. You WILL start feeling better..do not..DO NOT...start takin 'sub'. It makes no sense. You will soon turn the corner and start feeling better. 'Sub' is addictive and hard as hell to get off of. Again, my opinion is stay focused on the end game and stay away from 'sub'.

Thank you all very much for the replies. By His Blood, I forgive knowing you meant no harm. I have just been so edgy lately. I did not know there were wds with Sub so no, I am staying away. Guess I was thinking it was an easy 123 drug and your done. Again, thanks everyone. Northbelle, you are a very strong, kind hearted person. Thank you dear! Doxie Love |

ByHisBlood- I dont think anyone on here is ignorant. I admire each and every one of you for doing whatever it takes to get and stay clean. Im just really worried about my husband. He needs to be 100% clean by the 18th and is so afraid of wd's that he hasnt stopped taking the vic's yet. He says Wed. is the latest but Im scared for him. I dont want him to be sick and he cannot miss work. Is there a chance he will feel crappy but still be able to function at work without people knowing? He is a maintenance technician at a huge company and just started there. Our family relies on his income to live so losing his job is not an option but neither is taking the pills. How long will he feel bad? Say he stops on a friday, will the wd part be gone by Monday?? Im sorry for the bazillion questions I just dont know where to turn for help. He has tried calling places for help but all want an inpatient detox that costs a fortune and we dont have insurance right now. He has had terrible alcohol wd's in the past and we are afraid these wd's will be like that. He also has high blood pressure and I read that wd's raise the blood pressure so thats not good either. Maybe you can PM me or even call me to help us if you would be so kind. If I came across like a b**** on my other post it wasnt intentional...it was fear and Im sorry.

By His Blood- He has to be clean because he has to go to work furlough which is a jail pretty much. You go to work at your regular job but have to sleep there. They have a zero tolerance policy so he needs to be clean. He is going to furlough June 18th. He has been trying to get help from the county for 2 weeks now but cant get any. How long does it take for it to be out of your system completely for a drug test? I know the rehab/detox thing isnt going to work unless he can do it like this weekend. Does Ativan or something like that help with the w/d's?? I know Im grasping at straws here but thats all I have left in me. Im so worn out from worrying about this. I have a 4 month old to take care of and she needs my full attention yanno? I have bad dreams now and/or cant sleep well. He is feeling the same. This is something that he never even saw coming as far as the w/ds and everything. His dr. never told him when he started the meds that this would happen if and when he quit. He is thinking of taking subutex for a couple days and then stopping just to get past the roughest part. That way he wont have w/d's from the subutex cuz he wont be on it long. All I know is I cannot wait until this has passed. I pray a million times a day for the good Lord to free him of this with as little discomfort as possible. The bible says "by His stripes we are healed" and that's what I pray for. Thank you for your support and Ill update soon. |

Wolf...I can totally understand your hubby being afraid to take that leap into the "unknown" as it was the same way for me also...But sooo worth it!!! If I may be so bold and I hope this isn't taken the wrong way...He absolutely HAS to have some better reasons for wanting to quit other than passing a work drug test or he risks relapse at some point. That aside...I know some of the local hospitals here have rehab/detox centers and will allow patients to set up monthly payments so that might be worth looking into. Also, as By His Blood replied, his doctor could probably help him get through the WDs by prescribing certain medications that will help take the edge off. I was prescribed Catapress Patches during detox which really helped me with several symptoms {restless legs, upset stomach, etc} http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/d...r/a682243.html And by letting his doctor know what is going on with the addiction he stands a better chance of staying clean and not falling back into old habits. Wishing your hubby and you the best of luck with this! Jane

wolf it's really hard to guess how your husband will react to a drug test. I do know that chronic users take much longer to get that stuff out of our systems. For example, I used opiates for about 3+ years and after 3 weeks clean I still tested positive. Each person's physical make up is different so it's hard to say. My concern would be how he can stay clean after he returns. Getting clean is one thing but having the desire to stay clean is another. The real test will be when he returns.

If you have been clean for a week now, by all means do not pick back up. As someone said, it will start to get better. Each day, you will seem to get a little better once you turn the corner. Dont give in to yourself.... If you start taking something now you could begin a whole new cycle and who knows where that road could take you. Find an NA meeting and start fighting your addiction. You are on the right track, just hang in there.

My husband is not getting clean because of work. He is getting clean because of he doesnt want to live this way anymore and doesnt want his daughter to grow up with a pill head dad. the drug test is at jail, not work. he is going to the dr. today to get subutex. He will take that for about 6 days and then not be on anything. Im praying this works!!
