| Need help stopping vicodin..
My wife has written on here before regarding my situation but I wanted to check this out myself and get some advice. I have been on vicodin for many years and take up to 25 a day of the 750's or the HP's. I am sick of living this way as Im sure some of you who have been through it can understand however I need some help here. Im trying to get my insurance to approve me seeing a dr. to get on suboxone or something. I got a DUI in December and have to go to work furlough June 18th for about 3 1/2 months. I dont have much time to get this done and I need to be clean when I go in. If I cannot get approved then I will have to do this on my own. What Im wondering is how bad are the w/d's? What actually happens? If any of you have had alcohol w/d's is it anything like that? I have a 4 month old baby and wife to support and just started a great job that i cannot lose and I cannot miss work at all. I know I got myself into this mess but before I stop I want to know EXACLTY what to expect. I've had alcohol w/d's before and it was terrible. Im hoping I can learn a lot from this site and all of you. I also know my wife has come here for support before and said how wonderful the people on here are. Thanks for your help.

Hi Wolflvr - welcome to the forums. There's lots of members here with experience in this area who will be able to share the experience with you. Would you be able to register a separate account for yourself rather than use your wife's? It could get really confusing otherwise! We could start this thread over again under a new name. Send me a PM if you'd like to do this. Welcome again!

Junk is a barbed hook; the deeper you go, the more it hurts when you remove it. Read "Junky" by William Burroughs, it's free on the internet. You'll get a general idea of what to expect.

Yes, the withdrawls will subside. As long as you are willing to go through anything, you will get sober. As time passes they will get better. Keep your eyes on the prize. You can do this. Being "all or nothing" is like all of us addicts. You are going to need to retrain your brain. Right now just focus on getting through today. There are hotline numbers in the phone book that you can call for support and meeting locations. I suggest you start with calling the hotline. They will help you with many things and great support. Also, check out these threads on here. There is some awesome people that have great advise. I will pray for you. I believe in you. You can do this. Stay strong, and fight. With much sober love to you...

A medical detox will make it a WHOLE LOT EASIER on you. I'm for being done with it for good....no suboxone for me. If you can get into a medical detox that would be best. You'll be supervised by doctors and you won't suffer.

Hi, For every person the withdrawls are different,as we all are. I have to get my pills froma dealer or dealers off the street, suboxone can be bought off the street, but the street way? many fatalities. I have taken 5 mgs of methadone pill works for 8 hours then the withdrawls kick, but are livable, i rather have methadone than the percocete for a taper down, fo me anyhow I have to have Sub or methadone and have a doc apoinment, however it can be fatal when a person is on any benzoid, OK While a detox cold turkey? your heart rate and blood preasure can go all ove the wall, your mind? you can see, smell things that are not there, the list goes on, the withdrawls attack me mentally and my heart rate...I wish you get on Sub oxone fast or have you tried mthadone clinics? very costly if your insure. does not pay. IF your insure. does not pay, some detox places will take you on free. I hope you get well...sorry for the drama on withdrawls, but it needs to be stated the worst can happen, yet? the mild, many people have done it cold turkey, it can be done, depends on the peson, main thing is this your state of mind and heart reate ect...others have spoken up and others more will. your not alone, you can post in this thread ove and over people will be here to help you...

My bad. The website that had the book is gone, but it will be in your public library.
