Hiya Golfie - tis you?
Nice to see you - how are things?

JC - I agree with golfer above - dropping 4 mg klonopin all at once could be very dangerous - you should seek medical advice and supervision.
If you want to get off these drugs once and for all then you should seek medical advice regarding a taper. Read the Ashton Manual and refer to the schedule for tapering off klonopin by way of valium substitution - if nothing else this gives you a starting point for discussions with your doc.
These drugs are very potent and form an incredibly strong physical dependence in anyone taking them. Then there is the psychological aspect..
No way can you just decide to give them up - like opiates............... benzos require a gradual down dosing and if you are to have a decent chance of success then you have to have a structured plan of withdrawal...... and you must commit to this.....

Good luck

Her doctor still has her on Klonopin and if it is not enough then perhaps he will increase it. I am not a doctor so I am not going to say increase what your doctor has prescribed for you and if I was I wouldn't anyway because I could get into a lot of trouble.

I think it is a fact that you can stop taking one drug and taper with another. It is now a question of how much Klonopin. Perhaps her doctor is being a bit severe, but she'll have to work that out with her doctor or seek medical advice elsewhere.

Hey, I got off benzos after about 10 years. It is a very serious withdrawal. There are two peaks in benzo withdrawal. One occurs about 5 days after getting off and the other about 14 days after quitting. The second can be worse than the first. My opinion is that after so many years, probably oughta be getting help from a drug abuse counselor and MD.
