Hello everybody, i have just registered for this site, over the past 2 days, i have followed Mikiglen and her story, and found it very moving along with a few others. I have a question, has anybody with a real pain problem ever been able to maintain a doctors script and actually follow it for any length of time? I have been on oxycodone 30mg 5-6 a day, combined with soma 350, i have gone through the withdrawal thing several times in the past, from not following the script, and taking more than i should have, usually 10 or so a day, this has been going on for about 6 months or so. In the past maybe 10 years ago i was really abusing zanax, lortab, and ataivan, i stoped all 3 at once, and thought i would die, i have never felt anything like that in my life, and after reading some other threads about zanax, its a wonder i didnt die. Any thoughts would be appreaciated.

I have just recently gone through a 10 day clean spell, all the bad withdrawal, it was pretty bad for the first 5 days, because the last script i got lasted 20 days instead of 30, but the meds really do help, if i could only take them like i should.

On mikis thead there is racegirl she has been taking her meds just as prescribed for a long time now she is no longer abusing them. Some of us do need them for legit pain. Most of us cant control them though. I have someone give me mine if I need them. I believe she has someone dole out hers too and now she doesnt need that go follow her story and see that it can be done. Takes will power you will have to find out if you have it or not. If not then have someone hold on the them for you so yuor only taking them as prescribed and you wont run short.

i don't know, i was in rehab years ago with a soma addict, she had a lot of trouble with the withdrawals and the cravings. personally, i don't know anything about them, as i never took them. i think they can be addictive, tho

I had a terrible addiction to soma....they claim to be non addictive ..like ultram...but some states have changed their drug class from 6 to class 5 ...which just shows you that they do have potential for abuse... but I loved all drugs..I did not discriminate...addictive or not...I would gobble them up if they gave me a buzz.. be careful ~B |

I have tried so many time to control pain medication and for me it is impossible. I have a ruptured disk in my neck and am in great pain at times but I have to look for a non narcotic way to manage my pain because I simply can't control my use of narcotic pain medications.

That is honesty i can appreciate Brian. Thank the Lord i dont have CP issues. That's not to say i never will. But i assure you that, should i have to deal with chronic pain in the future? -Shucks, after the last two years of all this indoctrination (hearing simply horrific tales of opiate-addiction from both this and another forum), I will be scared shirtless to risk becoming dependent on something as 'feel-goody' as hydros, etc. Has been educational & enlightening indeed for me, an alcoholic/addict who has NEVER experienced opiate or opioid addiction. i know now that I never WANT to experience it ![]() About Soma. I'm out now. lol (Finally!) i took my last several tablets a couple nights ago. (was up to about... oh, six to eight every evening!) Carisoprodol has nowhere near the addictive grip of benzos, alcohol, or opiates. (Such has been my experience over a full year, anyway.) The stopping of my Somas, each time doing so, has always been a chiefly psychological process. Nothing much physically addictining about them, in my experience. That's not at all to say that i support using them, and indeed since i was getting such large quantities (lol)from an 'online pharmacy' anyway, the days of Soma & Ten are over, since that entire life is dead for me now. It's dead and i'm alive, a status i can live with? ![]() To life! Ten Last edited by Ten Chips Down; 03-27-2007 at 09:59 PM. |

I know from my AH that Somas are taken in conjunction with opiates to give the effect desired. It's considered a cocktail. He didn't start out with Soma. He started out taking pain meds for two ruptured discs in his back. He eventually had surgery to repair one, and then incorporated Soma into the recipe.

Soma - alone or Soma w/ codeine There's two different kinds. I'm assuming you're on the Soma (plain). It has a synergistic effect when taken with other pain relievers. So, it is probably not a wise choice for someone trying to stay clean and clear of drugs. I'm like ccgirl...........all they did for me is knock me out!
