Cocaine Addiction

Hi all,

I am from South Africa and found this sight searching for someone to chat to, someone going through what I am. My husband and I need help but he does not want it. We have a beutifull three year old daughter and we are messing up our lives with cocaine addiction, I want to stop but it is so so hard, may be talking to some of you guys and getting to know other people exist like me will help.

HI Angie, I am from SA too, and have not used cocaine for a year now. I went into recovery when the drama and pain from using just became too much. I was using all day everyday, and was doing whatever was required in order to keep m,y supply. This included stealing money from my family, my business, running up debts with deaslers etc. You see addiction is a progressive disease, so expect your situation to get worse, unless you stop.

I stopped using the support of na and aa. I did not do rehab, but did 90 meetings in 90 days. I also stopped all contact with users and dealers. I destroyed all the dealers numbers, and told them to f off whenever they called. Eventually they got the message.

I approached my recovery with an open mind, a grerat willingness, and an commitment to do whatever was neccessary in order to get clean.

My life today is wonderful. No more drama, or much much less. I have my family back, and my kids and I have a great relationship. Before they just got in the way of my using.

So its possible to recover, as long as you are serious about it. Luckily cocaine is not that phgysically addictive, so I fouind the withdrawls minimal, but the psychological part isan ongoing struggle. That is why I have a plan to my recovery.
