Seeking Info

Hi, I am seeking information about my friend who is still using crack.
She was telling me that a doctor perscribed her a drug called Nortriptyline to help with withdrawl. I understand that as an active user she may not be telling me the whole story (as I am sure she didn't tell her doctor). Looking at her she is physically a mess and obviously using to a great degree. All the things that I have read about this drug wouldn't seem like something a doctor would just give a drug addict. Anyone have any information on this drug or what it could do to her?

Kittn it's Pamelor as I'm sure you've already read by now. I was on it several years ago. It is an older, more classic antidepressant, older than your "SSRI"s like Zofoft and Prozac, and carries with it more troublesome side-effects, namely dry-mouth and drowsiness. It is impossible for me to gander what it might "do" to or for her. I just don't know enough about cocaine and mixing with ADs, so I'm not even going to try. LOL

I will tell you there is clearer toxicity to these meds; and that any overdose therefore carries a greater mortality risk.

Needless to say.... God be with your friend, she needs to get and be clean--oh, and yes I highly doubt her doctor gave it her with full knowledge of her addiction.
