| Please help...
Hello. This is my first post on this site and I am looking for some support. I have been taking oxycodone regularly for about 6-7 months now. I have come to terms with the fact that I have a problem, and I need help. I have tried to stop several times on my own however I always break down and take some. It is starting to affect my financial well-being. Nobody knows that I have this problem, not even my immediate family or my girlfriend. The ONLY person that knows is my close friend who also happens to be my boss. He is the holder of my pills and will only give me a certain amount at a time. We have discussed my situation at length and he wants me to stop taking them. So far he has been a godsend and hasn't judged me in any negative way. He has been nothing but helpful and supportive. The most that I have taken on any given day is 100-110 mgs of oxycodone. Luckily for me, with the help of my friend, I am down to about 30-35 mgs a day. It is still very hard. I tried to go without any on Sunday and it was horrible. I was lethargic, miserable, unmotivated, and didn't want to talk to anyone. I finally took one on Monday morning and I felt great. Happy, energetic, pleasant. I'm afraid that I need this drug in order to function. If I continue to ween myself off this drug, will it be any easier? Also, what is the best way to ween yourself off of a drug like this? Any help would be very much appreciated. |

The fact that you have successfully tapered thus far is great! If you can keep going with it..I tried many times on my own and had to get help.I couldnt taper..just couldnt do it.. I have no experience with the oxy, so I wont even try.. I was placed on suboxone in rehab for a few days, I was taking 50+ 10/325 hydro a day.. Suboxone can be done in an office setting as well tho, might be worth looking into..

I hear you..opiates seem to have the same effect for me. They take me out of my funk..but into a even deeper hell in the end..I mean if they were so great we would not be here trying to save our lives huh?? I don't know it is just so HARD but I must tell you..I once deotxed from a really large methadone habit cold turkey..working the front desk as a receptionist. It was a real nightmare but I did it so you can too...I don't recommend it. If you have the luxury of seeing a doctor by all means do it. Just tell em whats up. It can't hurt right? That is kind of wierd about your boss. Almost seems like a power and control issue!! I mean his heart is probably in the right place trying to help but boy..he really IS the boss huh?? I mean is he qualified to dole out medication like that?? Maybe you asked him to of course and I do hope it helps..really ..Do you get your pills from a doc?? I hope you are feeling better getting this issue out in the open by being brave enough ..or desperate enough..as in my case!!! to post here..keep posting here and people will help you get through it. love north |
