15th day My biggest worry has been my job and my work in grad. school. My job will be ok but I may have to take an incomplete or fail one of my classes. Kinda sucks but it could be worse. Atleast the neg. consequences are coming from quitting this addiction and not a result of the addiction controling me. I quit once before and thought I could take another pill shortly after-mistake. Today marks the longest time I have been without these pills in over 3 years and I'm not stopping |

16 DAYS!!! I am moving foreward. I don't crave but I wish the evening nervousness and poor sleep would get better. My doctor wants to put me on Zoloft - Anyone have any experiences with this? I read up on it-it's an ssri used for antidepression and anxiety treatment but from what I can gather it takes about 2-4 weeks to start working! With or without it - I'll deal with this. |

I was prescribed anti=depressants both times I had been in rehab - and once by my pc. They felt that I could use the boost in seratonin while my body recouped. Problem is, yes, it takes weeks to work, and by that time you'd be feeling better anyhow. I don't care for that numb feeling - you really don't notice is until you come OFF of them. Then again there are people who swear antidepressants changed their lives - my sponsor is one, though after living with her, I think it's more mind over matter. Placebo effect??? Maybe good old fashioned diet and exercise (Sorry I feel like a broken record but it worked for me)

| zoloft
as far as ssri are conscerned zolof is prob. the most tolerated. Normally the doc will start u out on 25 mg for a week then increase to 50mg, if after a few weeks u may need to increase to 100. you should feel some inprovement in 1-2 weeks and the full effect by 4th week. It does have side effects mainly dry mouth, some times decreased appetite, some people it can make tired or some it causes insomnia guess it just depends on u, I've been on zoloft for awhile needed it trouble coping with the death of my son. also i have know several others who have taken it most do fairly well. I also tried wellbutrin years ago I used it to quit smoking it worked good (I was a happy non-smoker) but of course they are all chemicals!! dee

That's how I felt - last year my PC prescribed it for me - I chose to not. Didn't take anything but vitamins and probiotics for the last year - felt really good till a couple of weeks ago...when I DID take a drug, dammit |

thanks Lil, It has not been an easy 20 days for me but I knew it wouldn't be easy-lol. I did a taper earlier in the year - it was the only time I have quit since I started using. It was much easier than cold turkey but it also took longer. My problem was thinking I could take a couple after the taper-I was back on the same amount before I knew it. Keep up the taper! Having someone to regulate your intake is great. Do you have a taper goal? |

Then 12/1 did fine till the 4th, I started to sniff like 1/2 and yeah got me high since then been taking the one a day like I Was to nothing more and my God no sniffing, today? I had all under wraps, but I was around certain people today and well, I got 40 vicodin, I would use them in the past too, so here I give my b/F 30 and pocket the ten and took two, now? I gave them to him and I was not going to, but told myself that I was honest with him in the early of the month and have to surender those pills to him. So, Sunday is the 10th, I am to take one till14th and go down to a 1/2, no excuses I was to have taken the one a day for two weeks, I have more than enough pills, but I just feel as long as I am taking and dealing with my DOC it is a tease, So I am going to do what I call a big drop, I will take the 1/2 for two weeks then 1/4th for two weeks then stop, any pills are to be thrown in the toilet, I will be doing that and B/f to watch me, now if I feel by chance I can't do that? As much as I have been avoiding rehab and reason is future custody of my Neice, I will have to go, cause the only way I have known the past two years to live is using and before I was a drug addict I am a codie and food addict, and I have drank here and there, but thank God I get too sick from te beer, cause if I did not? I would drink alot and more than likley become a alcholoic, no question, I would...

day 21 here-the 3 week mark! LIL- It's good that you have a plan and someone to help. Do what you need to do to be successful. you may even want to jump off the taper soon. You are not on a lot at 1xday. Tapering to a half and then a quarter pill may be harder than not taking them at all. Just a thought. And yes, the thought of living without pills can be scary but the freedom is wonderful |

Today I relly messed up, errrr...see my thread. I looked over my taper down chart, looks like i have been messing up since 12-4th and today wow too much, now i really do not have any extras, for real. did not get that high either, that is good, fact is i feeel like crap and that is a good sign. I had thought about leaving at 1/2, the pills, the taper is a tease, i see that now, i sliped big time today, yesterday i got some vicoden 40 of them for nearly nothing, i have used vicoden before, i find that percocete is stronger, but was not thinking about "using" when the offer flew my way, there is always another day to start over, sick i will be, but it is doable.
