A Question About Methadone Clinic Waiting Rooms
Are friends/traveling companions allowed inside clinic waiting rooms?
I just got back from a week's vacation with a friend who was guest dosing at the clinic near our hotel. The first and last day I rode to the clinic with him, first time as navigator, second time because we were headed out of town.
Both times I waited in the car. It was HOT, and there were no other businesses in the shopping center where I could have gone in to wait. He said I could not come in with him.
I understood that, and didn't want to do anything to make him uncomfortable in the new place.
But just wanted to ask here, would the clinic staff have had a problem with me just sitting in the waiting room? I figure it had AC, maybe a water fountain, certainly a rest room!
Do you have any experience with this with a friend/traveling companion?
Sure, it's past time now, but we're thinking of going back to the same area on our next vacation.

Honestly the only way you will know for sure is to try going in and see what they say. MOST clinics I have been to allow family members to a point. Obviously if you look shady they might question it, but I have seen parents and significant others sit with people in the waiting room. There is no hard and fast rule. They do frown upon it a little, but I have RARELY seen someone kicked out that didn't deserve to be. You might have to sign in and might get a look or two, but I don't think it would be that big of a problem unless you make it one.

It's usually just a clinical setting pharmacy type place. I remember not being to proud of having to go there so if I was with someone that specific day I would ask them to wait in the car. I've seen people in their with children and other family members though, not really frowned upon. It can be a bit of a shock at first to see a room full of opiate addicts at different stages of addiction for some.
