| Quitting Suboxone ( Past Tense )
Just wanted to add another wrinkle on the pros and cons of suboxone and getting off the stuff for good. Very brief history - Got on the stuff to end a opiate habit of several years and found that the sub was it's own 'prison', at least to a degree........I got down to 2-3mgs which does not seem to be to difficult for most of us. But after that..........Ouch. I don't reccomend this for anyone but me but it has worked for me. I felt comfortable enough in my recovery and my overall physical and mental state of mind to undertake what i did. I took about 15-20 mg of oxycondone for 3 days, 10-15 for 3 more and then 5 mgs for a week and stopped everything. I experience zero withdrawals and have never felt better. Yes , i realize the danger of taking oxycondone, even in small doses to get off the suboxone. Probably not real smart but i wanted to get off the sub as well. I know the half life is rather long and i was concerned i could not do it without some help. Anyway, since i don't like it when people ramble on i won't do it myself. Suffice to say that this worked for me, i have over 6 months with-out ANYTHING in my system and am glad to be free. I don't know what the future hold but as of today things are wonderful. What else can i say. |

Great job getting clean. I'm at 62 days off Suboxone. I also used a rather....non-traditional method of breaking my Suboxone run....also highly not recommended to everyone else here....but I was at 3-5mg for a loooooong time, finally got down to 2-3mg for a few years, then when I knew it was time to finally quit, I stopped taking the Subs at about 3mg a day, I chased it with 5mg of Methadone a day for 18 days, then waited a day and took 1mg a day of Subs for 8 days and jumped......HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED TO EVERYONE.....not because it didn't work, but because those are just two drugs that shouldn't be played with together....a lot of experience in that in my past though. But it did work. I still experienced w/d, but I beat it none the less. That's awesome that you were symptom free through your experiment there, I think I would have been right back at square one if I took Oxy after......as long as your healthy and ok. Way to go.
